1. Ethiopian Troops Enter Adigrat After Rebel Withdrawal
-- Ethiopian government forces entered Adigrat in northern Tigray after rebel fighters withdrew, Al Jazeera reported.
-- The advance brings federal troops to a city near Eritrea, which cut diplomatic ties with Ethiopia last week, increasing the risk of a wider confrontation.
2. China Sanctions Paraguay and Belize Ministers Over Taiwan Ties
-- China announced asset freezes, visa denials and business restrictions against Paraguay’s communications minister and Belize’s foreign minister over their Taiwan ties, Channel News Asia reported.
-- The measures restrict the officials’ dealings with Chinese institutions and increase the diplomatic cost of maintaining ties with Taipei.
