I think some of the 'user friendly' clients, with Primal being the worst offender, have confused the crap out of people about relays by tucking them away instead of just encouraging some basic education.
This is my broken record rant though as user friendliness is the number one plague on most software. It's how the world went from shit that works (Slackware) to a tangled mess of shit in the land of Debian, Redhat, and the other 'easy' systems that work until they don't, when people just start talking about doing reinstalls because you can't rely on upstream docs anymore and the dependency chains are in a knot and for some reason half of the configuration is handled in binary files.
I'm incredibly grateful to VitorPamplona (nprofile…vhl6) and co. for having the sanest relay config out of any client I've come across, with clarification as well as specific roles able to be set by users, rather than treating users like they can't be trusted with their own devices.
I get that most users are retarded. But if you keep treating them that way it WILL be a self fulfilling prophecy.
Some of this is getting made moot because even the tangled messes can be delved by the LLM's and sorted out. But I suspect those dealing with them are more likely to spend more tokens doing so.
