Do you see your life as an asset or a liability? 🌿

We all get the same 24 hours a day. The difference lies in the return your lifestyle gives you for each one of them.

Do you see your life as an asset or a liability?

There's a question we rarely ask ourselves, perhaps because we've grown used to thinking in terms of time rather than return: do you see your life as an asset or as a liability?

An asset gives you a return. The more you invest in it, the more it gives back: more energy, more health, more vitality, and more capacity to do what you want when you want. A liability does the opposite. It silently drains you. It consumes your time and energy just to sustain itself, and by the end of the day you feel emptier than when you started, without quite understanding why.

How does a liability settle into our routine?

The most uncomfortable part of this idea is that no one decides, overnight, to turn their life into a liability. It happens gradually, almost unnoticed. It's the poor night's sleep that becomes a habit. It's the back pain we ignore because "it's still bearable." It's the stress we carry from meeting to meeting, never letting it go. It's the "just a few more months like this" that's been repeating for years. A liability doesn't appear suddenly; it settles in slowly, exactly like interest accumulating without us noticing.

The real value of 24 hours

And there's a curious part to this metaphor: we all get exactly the same 24 hours a day. No one has more time than anyone else. The difference is never in the amount of hours; it's in the return your lifestyle gives you for each one of them.

This is where choice comes in, perhaps the most important one we make every day without calling it that: what are you doing today to turn your body and mind into an asset?

Wellness practices as investment

Practices like Qigong, yoga, or any form of mindful movement aren't luxury or entertainment. They're a direct investment in your asset. They restore energy, strengthen the nervous system, and increase your capacity to respond to everyday stress. The same goes for therapies like massage or reiki, which we often treat as an occasional indulgence when, in fact, they're maintenance, just like taking the car in for a service before it breaks down.

What do you choose to do today?

No one expects a liability to disappear on its own. No one believes a debt gets paid by looking away. And yet, that's exactly what we do with our bodies: we expect them to hold up, without ever giving back the investment they're owed.

The question that remains isn't whether you have time. It's what you're willing to invest today so that your life starts giving you a return instead of wearing you down.

With serenity,
