The historical Luddites in my mind are framed as opposing the cotton gin, and as I go deeper they framed themselves as standing up for humanity in the face of industrialization which is tightly knit with technology. The interesting difference with modern "luddites" is the technology and industry probably has less overlap with the historical ones, since the new tech has crept into the arts. The snarky dismissal "there is no use" for new technology in modern times would probably not be seen in the past, but they both share the common anthroposuperiority complex with eachother and objections arise from that.... haven't long posted in a while and now I'm not sure if I'm even responding properly to your OP, but I liked coming up with anthroposuperiority complex, sorta ironic lol
