Reminds me of a book I read on Christian meditation by Joel Beeke. It stressed the importance of not only reading the Word, but taking the time to actually meditate on what we’ve read and apply it to our lives. How many times do we hear a sermon and barely reflect on it during the week? How often do we neglect to feast on the words we read daily, asking ourselves whether these truths apply to us...and if not, why, and how we should confess and take action.

If we neglect Christian meditation, making sure we not only read and study but also pray to Christ for His grace and reflect on what we’ve read, we will be as useless as a soldier going to war with a dull sword and no training.

We must be always be praying, reading, studying, meditating, and trusting in Christ alone.
