Your idea of community is not everybody else’s. Fiat Maxi Man might have his own ideas and specifically be looking to exclude you from that.

There’s nothing wrong with that. Identities only exist when they define in and out groups both; if he wants to define himself by separation from you, does that really affect your own self-identity?
