Forcing mom and pop businesses to pay ever increasing minimum wage thus increasing their overhead so as to not be able to compete with big companies that are getting gov subsidies is what causes this. People don't need to be paid more, the floor on pay needs to be removed and the state needs to gtfo of telling employers/employees what their time and labor is worth.

If I want to take a job far below minimum wage to sweep I floor that's up to me, pet the market do its job and get gov out of everything.
