Solana staking protocol Marinade Finance DAO reported a malicious proposal attack on Sept 25. An attacker exploited a vulnerability in the voting mechanism to gain disproportionate voting power with a small amount of MNDE tokens. They submitted fraudulent proposals aiming to seize governance control and transfer DAO treasury assets.
The DAO Committee successfully rejected both proposals within six hours, preventing any funds from being lost. The vulnerability has since been patched, and core services like mSOL, Native Staking, and SAM remained unaffected. MNDE holders' actual voting power ultimately thwarted the attack.
