AnyPay allows you to pay any crypto with Lightning.
Sometimes it needs a two-hop path, because many swap services have congested channels, so you might get a payment route, but in many cases, you would not be able to pay the invoice.
When we do a two-hop payment (first hop being a service specialized in Lightning swaps), there's a key technical detail: the first hop is always a hodl invoice.
That means your Lightning payment goes to the swap provider, but it's not final until the swap to the second hop completes. If the swap fails, your sats come back.
Otherwise it would be a clusterfuck - there would be a payment stuck in the middle, with a possibility it would end up in some coin along the way that you don't have a wallet for. We make use of the Lightning protocol's built-in atomicity.
anypay never holds your funds (in fact, we are just a user interface for other swap services - their terms and conditions apply, you will see which the swap is using after you show a destination, but before you pay). The swap provider never sees your identity. You pay directly from your wallet.
