quotingA century of abundance in the West has created a society that largely doesn't understand the importance of competition for resources in this human existence. They've been on the winning side of a zero sum game for so long that they've lost sight of the fact that it is a zero sum game. That's why we have so many tolerant pacifists in our society.

They believe, wrongly, that no matter what there is more than enough to go around. They've never in their lives encountered scarcity, so they don't think it can happen to them. They welcome unlimited hordes of third world immigrants into their country thinking it will have no negative impact on their quality of life. They demand no new wars, not understanding that the resource deals and financial deals secured after these wars is in part what provides the abundance they live in. They demand to tear down the empire that has sheltered them from the harsh realities of life on Earth for longer than they can remember.
