iPhone Duo hinge cooling could unlock Android foldable performance
Foldable devices combine a large display with a compact form factor. When the screen is unfolded, the device often runs demanding applications such as gaming, video editing, or augmented reality. These tasks generate significant heat. If that heat is not dissipated efficiently, the user may experience throttling, reduced battery life, or an uncomfortable grip.
Traditional smartphones rely on a metal frame, graphite layers, or liquid cooling pipes to spread heat away from the processor. Foldables add a moving part, the hinge, which introduces a gap in the thermal pathway. As a result, many Android foldables have struggled to keep temperatures low during extended use.
