Judgment has such a negative connotation. But it shares the same root as judicious, which has a positive connotation to me. I actually am very judgmental. I make judgments all the time. I feel like spiritual bypassing made judgment into a bad thing. Breaking it down into discernment and condemnation might be more useful. I feel like spiritual bypassing captures these under one umbrella, and when that happens, judgment gets labeled as bad and "don't judge" becomes "don't notice". So all sorts of actually bad things are left to fester and cause actual harm, because "judging is bad."

I can be discerning and judge, and not condemn. Discerning is seeing clearly, judgment is making a conclusion from that, and condemnation is an extra layer of contempt that I can choose when to apply. #chillstr
