Cast iron literally lasts multiple generations. It's a bit more painful to clean it and maintain it, which is why I prefer SS for every day use. If I had access to open fire more often, I'd probably the cast iron more.

There's also carbon steel, which sits in between. Though I never got used to it.

Don't know who needs to hear this but you DON'T need a "non-stick" pan! Don't poison yourself and your loved ones.

Invest in a quality cookware. Stainless steel is non-stick if you know how to use it properly. Temperature is the key.

It's also virtually impossible to destroy. Clean it however you want. That's a power horse that will last you (almost) forever.
