My work is entirely AI-assisted now, but at a planning and reviewing level. I can't let it write new code from scratch because it's all slop, nor do the plans I make with it ever pan out as written. But as a project manager and second pair of eyes, it's phenomenal. I write much stronger code with AI review than without. And for mechanical tasks that require zero creativity, LLMs excel there as well. For everything else, handwriting is king. My cognitive burden is much lower, and my output is much better with AI.
With that in mind, I still hold myself in a different professional category than developers who allow most of their output to be produced by LLMs. Like a completely different profession.
