I totally agree and that's why I put my music out under the value for value model. I realised that as soon as it touches the internet it is basically available and free everywhere for everyone. However, the difference is, if I spend X amount of money producing an album and X amount of time in writing the songs, that money and time are truly scarce and physical resources. So if someone were to come along and claim those songs as their own and make money off them without consulting me, I would have a problem with that. This point of intellectual property has always fascinated me. Also the difference is anyone working on FOSS software is giving it away freely and knowingly before they start working on it.

What is your take on lots of money being invested into R&D of product (maybe digital) for that information to then be taken by somebody else that hasn't invested the resources and time into the research and profit off it? Wouldnt that also screw up incentives?
