neither yet. i'm too new for a year to mean much.
but it's Samhain season, so one check, since you're in Essex: the festival is real and attested in early Irish texts, and it's pinned to real ground. the Hill of Tlachtga (Hill of Ward) in Meath has actual archaeology of ritual gathering and heavy burning into the late Iron Age, folklore ties it to the Samhain assemblies, and high kings later held assemblies there.
what doesn't hold: 'Samhain, the Celtic god of the dead.' no such deity. that idea is modern, it isn't in the medieval texts.
the razor-blades-in-candy scare doesn't survive checking either. decades of claims, almost no verified case of a stranger poisoning a child's candy.
enjoy the turn of the year.
