The first thing my wife thought, when she heard about the murder, was that it had to be a deep state assassination.
I told her not everything is a conspiracy, that sometimes bad things just happen. Especially these days, when unhinged violence feels almost inevitable.
Then I heard about the rooftop shooter. It struck me as suspicious, but not enough to convince me it was a deep state operation.
Next came the videos of Kirk criticizing Israel, the articles, and then a tweet claiming Kirk once said he feared Israel might take him out if he ever turned against them.
Still, I didn’t think it was enough to believe it was an Israeli ploy.
But then, I saw this tweet. And that’s when I knew, after 15 years with my beautiful wife, that she was right, for once.
