God of War Director and Mandalorian VFX Lead Reveal Cinema Gaming Fusion at View Conference

During a panel at the View Conference in Turin, Bruno Velazquez described how the visual pipeline of the newest God of War games was built on the same foundations used for James Cameron’s Avatar. The studio collaborated with the Avatar team to bring real time motion capture, high dynamic range lighting and volumetric fog into a mythic world.
The partnership allowed developers to capture subtle facial expressions and translate them directly into the game engine. By using the same light probes that power Avatar’s alien landscapes, the team achieved a level of realism that rivals contemporary film.
