Nostr actually saved me from getting rugged on Liquid. How? Kind of a strange story, but it involves my on-chain tipping address and the former #NostrRichlist run by JSKitty (npub16ye…g4wn).
After receiving a nonconsensual deposit from Alex Gleason (npub1q3s…d26p) to my permanent npub-derived P2TR address, I decided to send 2 million sats to my already-doxxed wallet to put my name on the top of the list. It stayed there for four hours until jb55 (npub1xts…kk5s) dethroned me by sending himself 21 million sats.
The deposit I made to my on-chain address was funded via a Boltz swap from a Liquid wallet I had been using to hold a balance intended for my Lightning node. I had planned to move the funds back later, but never got around to it, so they stayed there until the Liquid exploit. The address is the opposite of a confidential balance, but it turned out to be a much safer place than the alternative.
For the record, I still think on-chain zaps are stupid, but apparently less stupid than what happened yesterday.
quotingOops, I zapped myself to the top.
