As an autistic (dude) I’d say you’re probably right in your assessment. The feeling is mutual when we are able to connect and share moments with neurotypicals with no ‘expectations’. It’s not about gender either, just that those times when we are genuinely able to be ourselves in front of other humans (anyone) it can feel rare and special. And those moments are genuinely appreciated.
