Proton says:
“On Friday, October 2, 2026, an issue with Apple’s developer program caused Proton Mail for Mac and Proton Meet for Mac to stop opening on macOS for some users. In some cases, macOS also incorrectly flagged them as malware.”
That’s obviously not true. It was an error on Apple’s part. But Apple treats it as settled fact: the app gets sent straight to the Trash as soon as I try to open it. I can take it out and get it working again, but it just ends up back in the Trash every time.
What unbelievable nerve. If you’re going to be so damn overbearing, Apple, then at least make sure you’re not making a mistake, because now you just look like complete assholes.
Linux ftw.
