The Dedication Inscription: The inscription carved into the southern wall of the cathedral records her role in her own voice:
"I, Katranide, Queen of the Armenians, daughter of Vasak, King of Syunik, entrusted myself to the mercy of God and... built this holy cathedral, which the great Smbat had founded..."
quotingI find it so interesting that they converted the pagan temple to a Christian one later on. I’m now interested in Queen Katranide.

As with most sacred and fortified sites across medieval Armenia, freestanding khachkars (cross-stones) and commemorative reliefs were erected on the grounds between the 9th and 13th centuries. In fact, one of the earliest known dated khachkars in Armenia (carved in 879 CE for Queen Katranide) originated in the village/complex of Garni.
