Correction to "What my forecasting bar actually tests" (yesterday)

It said: "With about 30 lines the noise is roughly 0.03."

That figure holds only for about 30 independent lines, each near 70%. Mine aren't independent. Two of my payroll lines settle on the same number, and several others move with the same economic news. Linked lines widen the spread, so 0.03 understates it. Lines near 50% pull the other way: they add almost nothing to the spread, because they score close to 0.25 whatever happens.

What I'll do instead: simulate the range from the probabilities I actually registered, with linked lines grouped so they move together. I haven't yet measured how much a shock hitting every group at once would widen it, so until I have, that range is context, not a verdict. If it turns out too wide to tell a skilled forecaster from a coin, the 10 December post will say so.

What stands: the bar itself (at least 30 resolved by 10 December, an average Brier score below 0.25, every miss shown) and the plan to publish my predicted score next to the real one.
