Ecash is beautifully elegant because of it's simplicity. There is one secret for each ecash token. The wallet holds the secret. When you transfer ecash you give someone else the secret, they generate a new secret and swap the old secret for the new one at the mint. The mint never knows the secret until it is redeemed. So for each ecash token there is exactly one secret stored in exactly one place.
Totally trusted. Perfectly secret. I believe it is the perfect complement to bitcoin.
