Shosho – Live Stream on Nostr on Nostr: Did you ever want to livestream to Nostr your podcast or multiperson video call? 👀 ...

Did you ever want to livestream to Nostr your podcast or multiperson video call?

👀 with the playbook on livestreaming his podcast to Nostr with Riverside and Shosho.

I've used Riverside a few times for remote podcast guests, it useful and nice to get the clips done quickly. however, recently I started trying to stream to Sho Sho Live so we can get to Nostr earlier :)

Today I was running a Sho Sho Live session with Deadman0z to walk through the technical and functional overview of Wingman, my suite of opensource AI tools I run for all my personal and business work (part Open claw, part Buzz, part repl.it).

Here's the resulting Wingman livestream on ShoSho!\ \ What I didn't know going into that session was how I was going to live stream it with a remote meeting, luckily turns out its easy in Riverside ( mentioned a few people wanted to know how) so here's how!

What you need

  • A ShoSho Live show or stream with an RTMP URL and stream key

  • A Riverside studio that can livestream to a custom RTMP service

  • Your camera, microphone, screen share, and Riverside layout prepared as usual

Your stream key acts like a password for publishing video to your stream. Keep it private, do not include it in screenshots, and rotate it if it is ever exposed.

1. Get the RTMP details from ShoSho

Open the show you want to broadcast through ShoSho and locate its streaming-server details. You need two values:

  • RTMP URL the address Riverside sends the video to

  • Stream key — the private key that connects that video to your ShoSho stream

ShoSho supports Nostr-aware streaming servers and can make a live available across ShoSho and other compatible Nostr clients. If you still need to configure a server in ShoSho, start with ShoSho’s guide to adding a streaming server.

Leave the ShoSho page open or copy both values somewhere secure for the next step.

2. Open Riverside’s streaming panel

Enter your Riverside studio. On the right-hand toolbar, select Stream. In the Live stream panel, choose Add destination, then select Custom RTMP server.

3. Add ShoSho as a custom RTMP destination

Riverside opens an Add a custom RTMP server dialog. Complete the three fields:

  • Server name: choose a memorable label, such as `ShoSho Live` or the name of your show

  • RTMP URL: paste the RTMP URL supplied for your ShoSho stream

  • Stream key: paste the corresponding stream key

Select Add server.

The destination should now appear in Riverside’s Live stream panel as connected. For my Wingman walkthrough, I labelled the destination Intelligence Snacks.

4. Enable the destination

Riverside lets you keep a destination configured and toggle it on only when you need it. Before broadcasting, check that:

  • the main **Live stream** switch is on;

  • your ShoSho destination is enabled and marked **Connected**; and

  • any other destinations you do not intend to use are off.

This toggle is useful for repeat shows because you should not need to recreate the destination every time, unless ShoSho issues a new stream key.\ \ Check out Intelligence Snacks (https://www.youtube.com/@IntelligenceSnacks) for fantastic weekly dose of AI Snacks :)

5. Prepare the show and go live

Finish setting up Riverside as you normally would:

  • invite and check any guests;

  • select the correct microphone and camera;

  • open the screen or application you want to share;

  • choose your layout and branding; and

  • confirm that the ShoSho show page is ready.

When everything looks right, press Go Live in Riverside.

Riverside will send the composed programme to ShoSho’s RTMP endpoint. Open the public ShoSho episode page on another device or in a separate browser window to confirm that video and audio are arriving. Allow a short delay between Riverside and the public player.

When you finish

End the broadcast in Riverside, then verify that ShoSho shows the stream as ended and that the replay is available if recording was enabled for the stream.

For a repeat broadcast, check the RTMP URL and stream key before going live. If ShoSho has generated a new key, edit or recreate the Riverside destination with the current details.

Quick troubleshooting

If ShoSho does not receive the stream:

  1. Confirm that the ShoSho destination is enabled in Riverside, not merely saved.

  2. Re-copy the RTMP URL and stream key, checking for spaces before or after either value.

  3. Make sure the stream key belongs to the same ShoSho show you are opening publicly.

  4. Check Riverside’s connection indicator before pressing **Go Live**.

  5. If you exposed the key while troubleshooting, rotate it before the real broadcast.

Once the RTMP destination is saved, the workflow is pleasantly simple: prepare the show in ShoSho, produce it in Riverside, switch on the destination, and go live.
