This is not a new problem of course, the US Democratic party hijacked both the words liberal and democratic, Republicans confuse Europeans who are fine with constitutional monarchy, libertarians are now getting confounded with techno-feudalists, etc.
So yeah, we may need a whole new set of labels. Labels are a projection of high dimensional opinion space onto a lower dimensional chart. But they also rely on a shelling point of everyone using the same projection.
