Good morning! Today will be the nicest day of the week, sunny and almost 70F / 21C. Time to do some garden clean up. It’s a great excuse to enjoy the sun.
Does anyone else feel like they are holding their breath until November? I can’t wait until we turn clocks back and have light earlier in the morning. Mostly, though, the slow drip of tension surrounding the election will be over. I’m sure there will be a host of new issues, but we’ll know what we have to work with.

Good morning. Indigestion and a headache kept me up much of the night, so I'm moving slowly. My headache lingers, but I still intend to do a necessary grocery run. The store is close by, and my plan is to get it done before I run out of energy.
Once that's done, I'll see how I feel. One of the benefits of being retired is that I can put off most plans if I need to.
For now, I'll watch the sun come up and watch the birds brave the 45F / 7C temps as they visit the feeder.

Happy #SofaSunday! I’ll have the house to myself for most of the day. Mr W will be outside with fellow ham radio guys inspecting our tower and antennas.
I’ve got the usual walk, reading and genealogy to keep me happily occupied. We’ve already decided on pizza for dinner, saving us from the age-old question of what’s for dinner.
The cats sense it’s too chilly for the porch, (41F / 5C), so they’ve claimed spots on the sofa for naps. They’ll have to make room for me later.

Good morning, Joyce. We've got soggy, miserable weather with a "feels like" temperature of 40F. Fall has settled in, but at least our frost warning for tonight has been cancelled.
I'm glad you got your walk in. That Iris you posted is definitely completely off schedule!
Have a good one!

Good morning and happy #SlackerdaySaturday! We're done with temperatures above the mid-60Fs / 19C for the foreseeable future. Time to put the long-sleeved tops front and center.
This morning is perfect for curling up with a book and a cat. Outside is rainy, windy and chilly. I'm hoping things clear by midday as is predicted, since our local group is handing out early voting materials at a community Octoberfest. It's a rain or shine event, but shine would be nicer.

Good morning! It's a foggy, dreary day. I tried starting a walk after filling birdfeeders, but dripping trees convinced me to postpone until later. My still-warm coffee wins for now. If our weather guy is correct and things clear this afternoon, I can head out then. Maybe I'll even see some sun.
I'm almost finished in cleaning out paper files. I save pages that are blank on one side to use as scrap paper. I now have enough scrap paper for years.

Good morning! Showers are making the day's start a gloomy one. They may linger all day so outdoor time will be reduced. Yesterday I made a start in getting rid of old files. I may as well continue the momentum since Mother Nature is supplying extra inside time.
Our summer birds have gone and our "winter birds" like junkos and nuthatches haven't arrived yet. Local chickadees + titmice are more than making up for it, eating more now than all the birds over the summer. Bulking up?

Good morning. We're back to summery temperatures for a day. Too hot for yard work, but perfect for reading on the back porch later.
Over the years I've accumulated copies of genealogy articles, both on paper and on the computer. It's time to get rid of the ones I don't need, so I've started the review and purge process. Today is too nice to do much of that, but little by little I'm determined to work on it for as long as it takes. Fingers crossed the motivation lasts.

Good morning! These beauties were visible through our bedroom window yesterday, out in the open, in the middle of our back yard. I’m pleased to report they are still there today, untouched by wandering deer or squirrels.
After running some errands I’ll head out to see what else has popped along the edge of the woods.
I love that nature is helping decorate for Halloween.

Good morning! We've still got rain this morning. I'm hoping our weather guy is right about it moving offshore by late morning. The silver lining is it will give me time to clean up the house, which I've mostly ignored for the past few days.
It will be a soggy walk later, but I can already see a few bright orange mushrooms that have popped up outside. It will be fun to see what else is out there.
It's not an exciting day, but I'm not a big fan of excitement on a Monday.

Good morning and happy #SofaSunday. I’m enjoying this quiet, rainy morning. As usual, Lucy is napping next to me while I drink my coffee. This morning tradition feels extra peaceful on Sundays because the day rarely has a busy agenda. Today is no exception.
The weather is going to keep me inside. I’ll likely spend the day doing whatever catches my attention until I settle in with a book. No to-do lists until tomorrow.

Happy #SlackerSaturday! Last night's dinner with both local daughters + grandchild was a little island of calm. Summers here are busy, bordering on manic, since tourism is a major part of our local economy. Both daughters are affected. Fall brings another level of busy with granddaughter's activities.
Last night we were all together, minus my son-in-law who was working, for the first time in weeks and weeks. It almost felt like thanksgiving. You gotta the joy where you can find it.

Good morning! I don't have anything pressing on my to-do list so I'm going to set it aside and enjoy the sunny autumn day. Clouds and rain are coming our way in a day or two.
The trees are now losing their leaves faster than they are turning colors. It's impossible to walk without getting pelted with falling leaves whenever a breeze picks up. There are enough leaves on the ground that walking on them produces the satisfying crunch. Fall is here!

Happy #SofaSunday! I woke up late to heavy clouds. Normally that would dampen motivation for doing anything, but rain arriving tonight may hang around through Thursday. My garden seriously needs tending, so today is the day. Or at least the morning.
I'll leave plenty of time for reading on the sofa later on. Sundays are always slow around here, a gracious habit developed from years of gearing up for a Mon-Friday workweek. After so many years, I'm not in any hurry to change it.

Good morning. The rain has started here and I'm glad I don't have to go anywhere. It's so gloomy here I'm tempted to take a nap. Since I've just finished my 2 cups of morning coffee that's not happening, but I'm keeping it as an option for later.
Maybe you'll escape your rain.🌧️ It's not pleasant when the possible weather outcomes are between sunny and humid and cloudy with potential for replenished humidity. The only solution is staying inside. 😑

2026-09-11 12:32:27 UTC

Good morning. Heavy clouds and imminent showers are keeping me inside this morning. I have no where I need to go today, so it I'll get housekeeping chores done and walk later if the rain moves on.
In the meantime, I'm enjoying the quiet as motorcyclists aren't out yet. Last night I had to keep reminding myself that I was not hearing thunder, just the dull roar of bikers going by on nearby roads. With the windows closed it wasn't too bad, though it put the cats on edge.

Good morning! Since we're back to above-normal temperatures today and tomorrow, I got my daily walk done early.
The annual Ocean City Bike Week officially starts tomorrow, but all week the sound of motorcycles has provided outside background noise. I won't mind staying in the AC where it's quieter.
Tonight is the first H.S band boosters meeting. I'm grateful it starts early (6 pm) and ends before it's completely dark, so I feel comfortable driving.

Good morning. A second cool morning in a row! I could get used to this. Ringo is living his best life, moving among the open windows to check out the view from each one. Meanwhile Lucy is taking her traditional morning mini-nap next to me while I finish my coffee.
I always look forward to today (Labor Day). It marks the end of the heavy tourist season around here. Weekends are still busy through October, but for the most part we’ll have our roads and quiet life back. Hurrah!

Good morning and happy #SlackerdaySaturday! I'm holding my breath to see if the cooler day with lower humidity is going to happen as promised. So far, it seems promising. The humidity is coming down faster than the temperature is going up.
I took a comfortable walk this morning and the cats are already enjoying the catio. Fingers crossed it stays cool enough out there for reading this afternoon.
I have no specific plans for the day, just seeing where the day takes me.

Good morning! I'm off to an intentionally slow start this morning. We're under a heat advisory, which my brain translates as "don't rush". I'll get things done, just at a slower pace. And outside yard work will be postponed for sure.
This week's hot days in the AC are not without some benefits. Yesterday I deep cleaned the small bedroom that serves as my granddaughter's space when she's here. I also cleaned up a few loose ends in my family tree. Slow and steady can be productive.

Good morning and happy September! I'm waiving the white flag and staying inside today. My tolerance for humidity is used up. 😖 I'll tackle inside tasks that I've been postponing instead. I MAY even make a phone call or two. As much as I dislike phone calls, it's better than dealing with the outside mugginess.
I hope you can spend the day daydreaming of an Olympic-sized pool of money!

2026-09-01 12:10:09 UTC

Good morning! September is starting off with the same muggy conditions that made slogging through August difficult. I'll be doing my exercising inside today.
I've received a noticeable increase in campaign emails + texts in the last week. The last straw was a text that came in after 11 pm. Enough is enough! It will only get worse over the next 2 months, so I'm unsubscribing (when I didn't subscribe!) and stopping all without mercy. It may be a losing battle, but I'm fighting back.

Good morning and happy #SofaSunday. The day started in the low 60Fs / 16Cs but it's not going to stay that way. The dreaded h + h (heat and humidity) are returning today and will stay for the week.
I've already been out walking and my goal for the day is to settle on which family history brick wall to work on over the next few days of staying in the AC. I can do that while mostly relaxing on the sofa, maintaining my regular Sunday routine.

Good morning! I'm happy it's #Slackerday Saturday. Despite a nap yesterday afternoon and a full night's sleep I don't have much energy this morning. I'm putting a lot of pressure on my second cup of coffee to correct this situation. Fortunately, I don't have anything that has to get done today except dinner.
Meanwhile I have a pair of confused Carolina wrens checking out the empty bird house by our front porch. I hope they figure out that we're heading into fall, not spring.

Good morning. I changed things up today and took a walk earlier than normal. Thunderstorms aren't predicted until later, but the heavy clouds convinced me to get out early. Now the sky can do whatever it chooses, and I can get on with my day.
Since there isn't a lot on my to-do list, I've decided to reorganize the bedroom bookshelf. There are a few books I don't need to hang on to. Since I'm in a "What am I hanging onto this for?" mood I might as well take advantage of it.

Good morning. Today I'm hitting the water park with my daughter and granddaughter. School starts on Monday, so we're going to spend the day lazing in the sun, shade and water. At least I will. They can enjoy the water slides. I'll be floating in the lazy river.
The weather is cooperating with sun and tolerably warm temperatures. Thankfully, the extreme heat is on hiatus. I'm thinking we'll sleep well tonight after all the fresh air.

Good morning! My day is starting with pleasantly cool temperatures. (63F / 17C). Since humidity is making a comeback later this week, I'm going to carve out time to enjoy the "fall-ish" weather while it's here.
The start of school next week signals a decrease in visiting tourists is in sight. Most of us who live here year-round will breathe a sigh of relief. Less traffic on our roads and less people in our stores! Quiet shore life will return.

I'm guessing you'll get the thunderstorms first before we do. Feel free to accept all the rain they give you, as we've been told to expect very heavy downpours and I'd like to avoid that.
I'm feeling partially responsible for the rain, as our lawn is freshly mowed and I've managed to get most of the weeding done. Mother Nature can't leave well enough alone + wants to start the cycle of growing all over again. 🤦‍♀️

Good morning. I dislike the darker mornings. I prefer when the sun rises before 6 am.
I'm glad your foot doesn't hurt. That makes daily living (not to mention a walk) so much easier!
Happy writing!

Good morning! This morning I got in a good walk before the humidity ramps up. Thunderstorms, some severe, are expected later, so I grabbed the opportunity first thing.
I've always enjoyed any kind of needlework. I find it calming and as a bonus it keeps me from eating too many snacks. Apparently, I have failed at passing on sewing skills to my daughters. I'll be hemming some clothes for my youngest this afternoon. Luckily the cats are only interested in supervising, not helping.
