I am gearing up to release an album I am currently mastering. The band is Called The You Project, and they wrote and recorded 11 songs back in 2012 at their home studio.
The 3 band members did everything for the album until right after tracking, when the bass player/owner of the studio suddenly died. This shocked the other two band members who were left with simply memories of the experience and a CD with unmastered tracks.
A family friend was the guitar player in the band, and years ago he showed me the songs and I really liked them. The songs have an authentic classic rock feel, which makes sense because the members all grew up in the 70s and fell in love with music during that time.
A few months ago, I visisted the guitar player and brought him a copy of the @nprofile…56l3 v4v music magazine. I wanted to show him what I was getting into when it came to music. He asked me to copy a CD with his album on it so he could give it to the drummer he worked with, who had just gotten news of a stage 4 cancer diagnosis. Maybe the CD and listening to their songs could cheer him up in these dark times.
I asked if he would consider allowing me to release his album into #v4vmusic since the album was never released or really heard by anyone accept the band and close friends. This is when he brought up the fact that the album was technically never quite finished, and needed to be mastered.
This made me feel like I was on a mission. I said I could finish mastering the album, create an album cover, list all the credits and distribute the album online. The remaining band members approved and it has been my honor to be able to help these guys get their songs sounding better and make their work truely come to life.
Before Christmas the album will be finished and released, and I cannot wait to have it out there. For now, here is a taste of one song from the album, it is called "Light it Up".

That’s sick man. My main instrument is drums but I do like to strum some guitar. I have a couple electrics and acoustics and a bass. I took piano lessons when I was like 8 but switch right to drums haha.

I recently saw this good music movie called Begin Again. I remember when I was going to university for film I was also working at a movie theatre, and this movie came out, but I never saw it. Its about a female singer/songwriter and a music label producer who are both fed up with the music industry and its lack of depth and how it produces cookie-cutter songs simply to sell to the public. The music producer (Mark Ruffalo) hears a song by the singer (Keira Knightly) and decides to record an album for her as they both break free from the shackles that the industry has put on them. In the end, they decide to release the album not with a label but something that sorta sounds similar to #v4vmusic or bandcamp lol @nprofile…56l3 @nprofile…3sr2 @nprofile…v2r3 @nprofile…3cgl @nprofile…x7ug https://npub1tjlrtz99nvjxxv4x3zj5vm28vyv47gdyucjsw4xgvm28wv733d5svyqs50.blossom.band/e79db9e2739c24aab41911f1ab4e68f56d1400ed8d612f5c7d5f0a4c2117ced5.jpg

That's really cool if you get to connect with some people you always wanted to work with or have respect for. Yeah for our self-titled album we did everything by ourselves. Performed, recorded, engineered, produced, mixed and mastered. Even the album art was done by my wife haha. She went to college for photography so most of our photos online are ones she took of us! 😂I actually met her when I was in @nprofile…n46c . She is the sister of the guitar pksuer @nprofile…8ucq . After I left for creative reasons we started going out 😂

Yeah being a one man band like matt has its advantages! haha. So do you hire session musicians then? If so, how do you figure out what they should play? DO you give them demos before entering the studio or have practices with them before? I have never had to hire anyone before because essentially all my friends are musicians lol. Every single friendship that has lasted for me is pretty much because we met in highschool and both played music.

So you think people think they are paying for the convenience of the app as opposed to the music itself? And that disconnect may be another barrier for them to come over to a v4v music setting?

Thanks for spreading the word about my music! I love the genuine interest people have on NOSTR! Like they are hungry for content, as opposed to being saturated with it like all the conventional platforms.

Unfortunately not. When they emailed the tickets the promoters said he would sign up to two items per person, but after the show they said it wasn't happening. I think he was super tired after the show or maybe had been ambushed by people before the show. Oh well the show was great and at 76 years old, he played like he was in his prime! Amazing! Couldn't take video or pics bit I secretly recorded audio on my phone! 😂

Going to see my favourite drummer play in Toronto tonight! Bill Bruford with the Pete Roth Trio! He came out of retirement to play with these guys so I am pumped! Bringing his autobiography and a pair of sticks for him to sign after the show! I bet @nprofile…5a9p and @nprofile…lv0e would appreciate the show👌🎶

I would say almost half The music I listen to is instrumental. Here is the opening track from the debut album of a fusion band called Brand X. Phil Collins on drums. The musicianship of everyone is unreal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4U2uh6ZIFo

Hello #nostr and nostriches! I am creating a personal account after running my band account @nprofile…zkv6 for the last 7 months or so. If you already follow Strange Love consider giving me a follow.I will be posting personal and more general music stuff from this account. I am not just the drummer for @nprofile…zkv6, but also a band called @nprofile…ef25, and dabble with other intruments too. I will be releasing songs we recorded over the next several months. With all the AI slop flooding #music apps, #nostrmusic and #podcast2.0 apps, give a follow for some genuine music created by human creativity. Its actually pathetic I have to advertise that 😂. Rock on! 🎸🎤🤘 #introductions #demu
