So what does this mean then exactly (genuinely don't know)?
"However, some people have said they were surprised by the boosts, since they hadn’t directly connected their server to tags.pub. To avoid this, tags.pub is now unsubscribed from the open registration relay servers it was previously using."

Seems to me like the criticized behaviour of the bots was corrected?

Sure, if the facts on the ground change at some point, things need to be reassessed. But that's still a hypotheticalat this point.

As long as that tool actively burns our planet it shouldn't be used completely regardless of its merits.

I feel like Fedi is pretty well suited for "actual human verification". Set up hyper-local instances and have people sign up via their local repair café or similar volunteer spaces. Obviously that's not something that can work everywhere and for everyone. But it could be *one* of the options.

I mean, look at how much hate Ms Rachel, argueably the closest equivalent to Mr Rogers we have today, is getting from a decent chunk of the right. So I feel like we're way past the point where good deeds guarantee a universally good public reception unfortunately and even obviously good people need to be defended.

Don't worry about it. Every setback is an opportunity for growth. Every posted L a chance to add an -inux to it.

I assume the perceived difference here is that clothes/fashion are seen as being for personal style and thus can look however (outlandish) you want them to, while masks are often seen as a purely functional healthcare implements that can be effective/useful or not. So I guess if you view it like that, there isn't really any inconsistency in treating masks differently. Maybe people even think they're being helpful with those comments.

I'm not sure that qualifies. I don't see a post about Linux in that checklist.

I assume the point is that as the official designated successor she might be suspected of arguing for it for her own gain? That doesn't seem entirely unsreasonable imo. There are of course other aspects that also make put her in a good position to argue for it.

Some Meta spokesperson in an article I read about the whole issue (can link, but it's in German) said that it was some accident/mistake, but that probably means exactly nothing.

Yes, Bluesky used to be a twitter side project basically and got its initial funding from twitter. But they already moved to be more independent even before the Musk buyout and have no relation at this point anymore.

It's false information. Bluesky isn't connected to twitter anymore.

You can probably say that that whole development is mediated by some degree of racism, as most Germans aren't really able to differentiate between different Asian people and to them Vietnamese sushi is thus perceived as "authentic". But you can't really blame the Vietnamese community for adapting whatever strategy allows them to successfully run a business in adverse conditions imo.

I don't see why not.
(As for the background, Germany has a relatively large Vietnamese community (and not much of a Japanese one). And since Sushi is fairly popular/well-known a lot of Vietnamese places also offer it. A lot of the just sushi or "Asia food" places are also Vietnamese run.)
