The only way to different you from a fraudster is to have a nip-05 that only you control IMO. Is not bullet proof but is a pretty good anchor point. Take the verification from your old account to the new one and that will “do”.
Ofc that means you’ll have to own your stuff, cause anybody can pay for a “@ zap.stream” or “ nostr check” and get the verification but only the real Zoltan can have “ @ Zoltan.xyz” unless that one is compromised too. In that case you’re kinda fuck 🤣

Ive been streaming on zs since day one. I’ve watched the site grow and develop to the nice looking layout (and still getting better) of what it looks today.
My take on it might be kind of controversial. But I don’t think the site will grow significantly (in terms of users) in the short term. No matter how much publicity it gets, YouTube is the first one that people will go to. Slowly but surely, YouTube will drive itself out of the road, and people will come in due time, either to zapstream or other alternatives.
That being said. The site has immense potential, if you’re consistent you can get tons of sats, sometimes might be less, sometimes might be more, so is the nature of tipping. You either need to have a massive amount of followers that tip you, or have a less followers but that are constantly tipping to turn a profit.
IMO it will be nice to implement a revenue stream per minute (like fountain has) per each minute 10 sats will be sent to the streamer (for the sake of example) and this ofc will have to be configured by the streamer for more “premium” or “personalized” content.
Overall, I think is a great alternative for a hobby or if you’re streaming In twitch or other sites, at least make zapstream one of those. You can even restream from zap.stream to the other platforms if you so choose.

YouTube seems like building on sand. In fact, all centralize media is like building on sand.
You can grow and put 100s or even thousands of hours, but in the end is only a matter of time for you to be in the “wrong” side of the road, for the algos don’t care about you, and neither do the ones at the top of them.

If she wants usdt she might be living in a place that needs the short term “stability” so in that case I’d use something like people mention, aqua or blink wallet.
If she uses something like binance or kraken, they can receive and sell bitcoin to usdt right on the spot (I’ve a friend that lives in Venezuela and for stuff like this is what I do) but I use strike. It will also send fiat through lightning so I don’t have to bother with exchanges rates.

Indeed, there is a lot of that. I myself “sin” of talking a lot sometimes about Bitcoin and Nostr but is just because I like it. I guess on time people will bring more different views and content for different topics, is just not happening as fast as we might want

I see people complaining of why #nostr has so many shitcoiners, and other things not related to what they’re use to seeing here.
Here is the thing, that’s a good thing, it means that the protocol is growing in content and different kinds of folk.
If you continue to see content that YOU don’t like then you’re following the wrong npubs. The fact that diversity is introduced into the protocol should be considered a good thing, no matter if you agree with it or not.
Of course, what did you expect from a permissionless protocol after all? Your echo chamber will be broken, if you so choose to. That’s the beauty, you have the choice to say no because you create your feed.
A complain about people complaining gotta give you an idea

I understand the implications, but in Venezuela bitcoin doesn’t work for spending, just saving. People still have the mindset of the dollar being superior, and exchanging in dollars is paramount there.
Until perception changes, there won’t be a conversion, and for that to happens needs to be pain, and then education. IMO

How could you tie that with a new nsec tho?

2024-08-13 04:56:01 UTC

Binance is restricted in Venezuela. Told a friend to download @npub1ajl…zx3q. Hopefully he can get it working and pay its bills (USDT is big there). Hopefully someday he will live in the #Bitcoin standard, and if he does he surely will be ahead of many here in the US

True, just kicking the balls before they speak. Might be cool to add a trusted friend to some sort of nsec identity checker within the protocol. Like a short seed phrase for backup of your identity without exposing any details.
Or maybe some kind of nip05 change tied to this seed phrase but all within the protocol no need to self host a website
