The context of those two different jobs is readily understood from whether there is a space on either side.
Has anyone ever been confused by the use of a hyphen when an em-dash was correct? No. Never. So, this is a fictional concern, meant only for the “well ackshully” people

2026-04-13 11:19:52 UTC

Here’s a conspiracy theory: the AI models all use em-dashes instead of hyphens when they generate on purpose - it’s to quietly signal that something is AI generated and shouldn’t be used to train a model.
They needed something that didn’t seem like an obvious signature to humans, but was instantly recognizable by machines.

I have been directly propositioned multiple times by women who were 100% aware that I am married and have kids. And I kept it in my pants.
This is not a men vs women thing, it’s a human nature thing. And a “do we want a nice society or not” thing.
It starts with saying “I would never do that, so we don’t need social norms against it”. I would never personally abuse a child, but it’s very easy to do and people do it all the time, so we have very STRONG social norms against it. And woodchippers.

The problems can also start when your wife decides she feels uncomfortable. Because there’s no way to convince her that there’s no need to be uncomfortable. And now you’re having a conversation where you’re both uncomfortable and now she’s right, there’s something to be uncomfortable about. It’s lose-lose. If we just acknowledged, societally, that of course it’s almost always lose-lose, we could all stop losing.

But I didn’t answer your question - I guess additional notes for “revision” or “split update” would be necessary and you just run the risk that the end user doesn’t get those updates in whatever they pull from

2025-12-15 22:53:22 UTC

- reply

Hmmm these are cases I wasn’t thinking of. I’m thinking as publishing video content, like a film. A canonical publication seems ideal.
An even simpler solution to resiliency would just be a “mirror” note kind. This offers an alternative link to the shared media. If the original note has the hash, this can prevent mismatched mirrors.
Does RSS handle mirrors? I don’t know enough about it

2025-12-15 14:49:16 UTC

- reply

I think the difference I’m suggesting is being able to publish without permanently maintaining anything. With RSS, someone can actively archive your files and update and publish a new RSS, yes
With what I’m saying, the notes remain the source of truth, so an archivist would just need to host the files on a discoverable CDN, not republish a feed.
The original author could add more CDNs to their kind zero, and the original notes still work. No replacing the notes, no replacing the files, just propagating verifiable copies of them

2025-12-15 14:41:39 UTC

- reply

Correct latest version of the av file or of the kind zero?
I’d actually prefer if you couldn’t swap the file once it’s been published
Think about it like this - your kind zero lists a primary blossom server. Notes reference the file hash. Basic Clients take the file hash from the note and pull it from the blossom server mentioned in the kind zero. More advanced clients can search a lot of blossom clients to find that hash.
There’s no reason the kind zero can’t mention multiple blossom servers in fact (mirrors)
Because the hash is used, no user will be served an incorrect file. Because the kind zero can be updated, broken links can be fixed without breaking the original published note
This even allows for authorship metadata in the original file to point to the npub for making sure the right publisher is Zappable no matter how you got your hands on the file

2025-12-15 05:33:45 UTC

- reply

Seems to me a Nostr event can be the canonical publishing if and only if we get the content delivery to be resilient (something like IPFS or torrents)
Then interoperability with RSS and then you’re bulletproof for self-publishing audio and video
Anyone can develop the clients and publishers can hit all of them at once
Maybe a simpler answer is pointing to a cdn in the kind zero like we do with lightning addresses. Then having a schema where notes reference hashes instead of full URLs, so you can swap a new CDN and all the old notes still register

It used to be a pet peeve of mine that linguistic drift has led people to use the word “conspiracies” when they mean “conspiracy theories”. But really, it’s very helpful - the sloppy terminology betrays sloppy thinking, so these people disqualify themselves right off the bat.
If someone can’t keep these terms separate, they aren’t prepared to think clearly about the topic at all.

To quickly gauge whether you’re talking to a critically thinking person, there are a few questions I like to ask:
History is full of pseudosolutions that seemed like progress to everyone at the time but were eventually completely abandoned, like Prohibition, Eugenics, and the lobotomy (which won the Nobel prize). What are some possible pseudosolutions in society today?
History is full of governments and the media lying, and false flag events and hoaxes, like the Zimmerman Telegram, the Gulf of Tonkin, the Reichstag Fire. What do you think are some recent media lies that are false flags or hoaxes?
History is full of secret societies and intelligence agencies planning and doing shady stuff to manipulate world events, like Operation Northwoods, MK-Ultra, Cointelpro, Operation Gladio, The Bavarian Illuminati, the P2 lodge in Italy, etc. What are some operations you think might be going on now?

They’ve done it with musicians many times - Lennon, Elvis, Morrison, Jackson, Bowie - their legends are secured and their music sales get a bump
Maybe Charlie couldn’t square his personal convictions on Israel with his donors’ expectations, so they brokered this “retirement”. Or maybe that’s giving him too much credit, and he was an intelligence asset + actor from the beginning
