Nice. Will give it a read.

I’m leaving for a while.
Trekking in the Himalaya.
Climbing to higher than I’ve ever been.
I wouldn’t normally post about travel, but I don’t want you to wonder where I went.
This trip has been a long time in the making.
It relates to my past, my father, my spiritual path.
When I publish something about the experience, I hope you’ll read it.
That might take a while though.
Anyway, I’ll be back in November with some big news to share.
Until then, be well.

I have now visited The Philippines and playa San Felipe.
Just need to check off Philadelphia, and I will have completed my named-based pilgrimages.

The absolute state of Bitcoin 'jobs' in a bear market.
The hubris and arrogance on display is fucking wild.
If you don't understand that people need incentives to work (money, ownership, benefits), then you are a larper, not a bitcoimer.
Just build something yourself. It's easier, and you get to keep your self respect.

It's possible, but it's the slower route.
What's to stop another dev just reverse engineering your app with AI then building a userbase before you?
For me, value is built through a brand and an active userbase. Without that, all your work is for nothing.

Agree. Sats as bug bounties and feedback surveys are a great motivator.
I think community managers are crucial for projects looking to get genuine feedback and increase engagement and use.

21k steps on my hike today, and a dip in the ocean to cool down.
I just wrote a long post about my BASED POINTS system here:

https://blossom.primal.net/1de09706288efdef1a19392c84a752e5f2650e80002b3d02969a986f1e1af354.jpg

2026-08-23 20:17:02 UTC

Thought I would share my Based Points™ (points-based) system for improving my long-term health and fitness.
My goal is to maintain mobility, cardio, and muscle mass into my 50s and 60s (am 41 now). I'm in worse shape than when I was 30, but overall OK.
Like just about everyone, I struggle with overeating, apathy, vices like alcohol, and lack of routine.
When I was in my mid 20s, I developed a points-based system to motivate me to exercise more. I found it helped me, so I amended is for this, my fifth decade on Earth.
I've adapted it to include other elements because now I sit on my arse at home all day at work. Plus, my metabolism ain't what it used to be.
OK, here goes.
**BASED POINTS**
**objectives**
* Earn points to meet selected target (e.g., 2, 4, or 6 points)
* Do better than last week's total.
* Continue every week.
**plus points**
* Walk (>10k steps) 0.5
* Hike (>20k steps) 1.5
* Yoga (1hr) 1
* Gym (1hr+) 1
* Swim (25m+) 1
* Padel (90m) 1
* Run (40m+) 1
* Fast (24 hrs) 1.5
**minus points**
* Walk <5k steps -0.5
* Eat before 12pm or after 8pm -0.5
" Drinking Alcohol (1-3 drinks) -1
* Drinking Alcohol (4+ drinks) -2
***
**Progress**
Check out the whiteboard I keep my fridge to keep track of my points.
This week, I did pretty well with 4.5 points.
My top goal is usually 6 points.
4 points is decent.
2 is meh.
0 is a fail.
Minus points is an EPIC FAIL.
My average is about 3.5.
***
**Learnings**
1. This system is adaptable for anyone, based on their needs.
2. Keeping score with a whiteboard on your fridge is key. You must physically write the score each day.
3. The system is flexible, you can add in targets or minus points and amend them to make them harder (don't amend them to make them easier).
4. If you fall off the wagon, or go crazy drinking at a conference, just start again. Earn more points the next week.
Overall, it's something that I found sustainable. It's not for getting rock hard abs, marathon training, or losing 50lbs. Just aiming to keep on the straight and narrow.
After 4 months so far, I can't say I'm crushing it. I have maintained weight, shape and fitness through the ups and downs.
But I do make healthier daily choices. I don't have late night feasts, I rarely skip the gym or yoga, I drink alcohol free beer.
***
Thanks for reading.
Wouod you gamify health like this?
How would you apply the system?

What they get: daily monetizable content.
Writers - if you are reading this, don't work for 'exposure'. Just write your own shit.
I should add that the job is for formulaic news reporting (price moves / market sentiment etc). Not even creative freedom where you can show off your skills.
Disgrace.

Long story.
Nearly two years for the sellers to register all their taxes from the sale (big family, one of them lives in Sweden and lost his ID, people died etc.)
Then, once I was registered for property tax with the Town Hall I had to change my official residence (from the same city).
I refused to go in person to do this, because it is so very very difficult and miserable. I tried to do it online and failed many times, enlisted the help of a developer friend, and at the second attempt (and after 6 months of waiting), I did it.
Spain's administration is so bad it makes me want to cry. It's not even a language thing... I speak Spanish.
Imagine what it is like when it comes to taxes or court cases. 😭

2026-08-20 20:13:31 UTC

I am officially registered as living at my own flat (as of 5pm today).
It only took 2.5 years to achieve this change in address thanks to Spain's excellent public administration system!

Don't get me wrong, many of them offer well executed solutions to genuine problems. But in a world of a million launches a day, a functional tool is not enough.
There is no value in the software itself.
Nowadays, you need strong branding, human-centric visuals and copy, and an active community of users to achieve PMF.

Why I write:
Aged 6: because the teacher told me to
Aged 18: to pass my exams
Aged 24: to vent about my job
Aged 26: to boast about my travels
Aged 29: to process cultural differences
Aged 33: to challenge myself with new creative forms
Aged 34: to get recognition from editors & readers
Aged 36: to gain authority through publishing
Aged 37: to help others write & earn a living
Aged 38: to spread the message of freedom & liberty
Aged 40: to express radical honesty about my life
Aged 41: ?
To be frank, infinite content, generative AI, and the fall of traditional publishing have left me in a quandary.
- I don’t feel motivated to write fiction.
- I don’t have a newsletter, an audience, or a routine.
- I’m not chasing the next big milestone or achievement.
‘Content’ is still a word I hate. It traps creativity in containers designed to generate monetary outcomes.
The great shifts in what, how, and why people read are becoming too rapid to navigate. All I know is that the true value of the words we consume always comes from biological lived experience.
We all have different reasons to write, and they are changing faster than ever.
But if we are blinded by the objectives of our work, we lose sight of what writing is: a process, an expression, a branch of ourselves extended to others.
Writing is human.
Never forget that.

Yes, I have Heliboard, and it still retardizes my text multiple times per day.

MY BITCOIN JOURNEY:
2011: rejects working for whole life to afford a house in a shitty suburb. Quits job.
2013: hears about bitcoin, too busy travelling I'm Latin America to care.
2017: meets crypto people and rums a mile. Too poor to invest in anything but my writing.
2019: reads 4-hour work week, sovereign individual and more. Starts online business and live on the road.
2020-21: wonders why inflation is eatingy lunch. Back on the hamster wheel chasing more and more money.
2022: gets orange pilled by client, reads ALL the books, finally get off 0.
2023: publishes world's first bitcoin fiction anthology.
2024: attends first conferennce in Madeira. Pivots to writing for Bitcoin companies. Joins Club Orange and finds friends.
2025: works with over a dozen clients, edits bitcoin books, publishes another anthology. Starts meetups and bitcoin walk in my city.
2026: speaks at 3 conferences, editing more books, expands to freedom tech writing.
Prediction for 2027: becomes the first pleb to solomine 10 blocks in a row with a Bitaxe Gamma 602.
(Do I get a bonus point for never touching a shitcoin?)

Thanks, yes, I'm aware of these two.

Yes, most text will be standardized in style, and I find that very sad.
Language is not code. It is nebulous, malleable, and kept alive by its users (or not).
Imagine if the same were true of visual art. Should we standardize that into technical diagrams.
There will still be value in human stories and text crafted outside the bounds of LLM text. But I fear the rate at which we are losing the ability to understand organic thought.
Soon, a blog post from 2019 will be as unrecognizable to readers as Shakespearean English is to modern audiences.

Keep them coming, Ben.
The work you do is important, and we support you.

2026-08-11 12:46:35 UTC

This is not a drill.
For one week only, I'm offering lifetime access to:
- The Multilingual Writers' Community
- My signature $1,500 course for multilingual writers
- A massive resource library (videos, templates, examples)
- 10 bonus mini-courses (study anytime)
- No upsells, 'prompts', AI nonsense, ads, or bamboozling.
The cost is roughly that of a meal out for 2.
Why not give it away?
Because I want to welcome writers who are willing to back themselves and do the work. In my experience, freebies don't help with that.
This offer is best for professionals who want to build understanding of valuable words and get the benefits of NOT writing like a machine.
This offer expires in one week (and this message will explode).
I'm not one for fake scarcity. But, due to my writing commitments, I only have one week where I can help onboard everyone and answer questions (I'll be hanging out in the forum).
After 17th August, intake will be closed.
* This is the first time since February 2025 the community has been open to join.
* It is the first time EVER, my signature course is included in the deal.
* This is the lowest price the community will ever be.
Shout out to all the legends who took my course in the past.
I hope you are still writing well!
If you want to build real value through words, take action.
Get the course and study it when you want.

Chatbots are like members of improv theatre groups.
Whatever you prompt, you get a 'Yes, and?' in return.
Personally, I hate improv.
I prefer plays which have an edited script performed by expert actors.
Most businesses need systems, not sketches.
It seems strange every company is pivoting to readily admit 'We don't know what the fuck we're doing. Let's go with the flow.'
I guess we've always been pretending in some way.
We try to sell our knowledge for as much as possible.
We lie, fudge the numbers, and sell bullshit, as well as our perfected scripts.
LLMs just try and please the audience.
Increasingly, I find my job is to spend hours persuading clients why cookie-cutter solutions don't work.
The good clients prefer challenges to 'yes men'.
Most of them lose trust in themselves because they have stopped planning and switch to improvising.
But most people want 100% optionality, flexibility, and 'staff members' that always say 'Yes, and?'
If humans settle for being the 'no men' and the 'prompters, it really limits our ability.
Improvisation is high time preference, and we can't do it forever.

Perfect job checklist:
* Creativity is valued
* Clear performance goals
* We make freedom go up
* Microsoft Teams is BANNED
* Part of a (nice) human team
* WFH with occasional offsites
* Long-term project (3-years+)
* No one 'just runs it through' AI
* Get fired if you use the word 'stakeholder'
That's it. Not too many demands.
Still, in 2026, that makes me pretty much unemployable.
Maybe it's why I've been my own boss for nearly 10 years.
(I've only applied to 2 jobs in the last decade).
I love the variety and freedom of writing for different clients.
It means I can say 'no' (e.g. because they forced me to write 'stakeholder').
I'm not looking for the perfect job.
Just thought it would be interesting to share.

No. That's FUD. A very specific flaw was found with Jades with very old firmware.
If an attacker had physical access to the device, they could backload even older firmware which had more vulnerabilities. Blockstream advised users to update firmware so this couldn't happen.
No reported losses or issues.

Kahlil Gibran wrote 'The Prophet' in under one day, but it took him 11 years to finish it.
How?
In a 1930s interview with a small Alabama newspaper, Gibran admitted that each of the 26 chapters took just 30 minutes to write. Less than one full day of writing in total.
One by one, they flowed out as fully formed and beautifully expressed life lessons. But it wasn't quick.
The lessons, work, and inspiration which formed the chapters arrived slowly. He first started work on the book in 1912, and it was finally published in 1923.
Deep meaning must be lived and processed.
This can take a whole life. The click of a button after a few simple prompts creates the illusion of meaning.
I'm rereading this short book of wisdom over 100 years after it was published. All the lessons still apply.
Because truth is timeless.

I spent months figuring out how to pay a rubbish tax in Spain (about 200 dollars for the year).
Finally succeeded in paying and setting a direct debit for future years.
Now the whole thing has been declared illegal by the community government, and I have to fill out another form to get the money back.
All this info comes from the newspaper, not the actual government. No communication. No guides. No automatic refund.
At this point, I just give up with administration here. Steal my money and just don't make me spend days chasing my tail.
