If you’ve followed me for a while, you know I love creating digital Bitcoin art.
I’ve always thought art was a powerful way to start conversations about Bitcoin. It can make an idea feel less abstract, invite curiosity, and sometimes open a door for people who would never sit down for a monetary policy lecture.
Over the years, I’ve consistently had people comment on the artwork I share and on the style I’ve developed. I wanted to create a place where that digital work could become tangible.
So I built BitcoinArtStore.com
Bitcoin art made for walls. Made to add color to a space, create conversation, and give some of these ideas a physical presence.
The first collection is live now.
Take a look and let me know what you think.

I post something about Bitcoin. Within a few minutes someone replies with a project I've never heard of, or one I have, and a line about how it solves what Bitcoin can't.
And before I've read the whole reply, I'm already composing.
It's not a decision. There's no moment where I consider whether to engage and conclude that I should. The response is just there, assembled and ready, and what I notice first isn't a thought at all. It's a small tightening somewhere in my chest, a flash of irritation, the beginning of a tone. The argument arrives a half second later, dressed as the reason for the feeling.
Now, I want to defend myself here, and I think the defense is good.
I did the work. Years of it. I read the arguments on both sides, and I sat with the ones that made me uncomfortable. I didn't arrive at Bitcoin by being handed it. I got there slowly, through a lot of reading and a fair amount of being wrong in public. I've also been scammed. I put money into things that turned out to be exactly what the skeptics said they were, and I learned what that costs in a way that reading cannot teach you.
I wrote an entire book about the distinction. It's called Bitcoin, Not Crypto. That's not a position I hold casually. It's a position I published under my own name, with the title doing the arguing before anyone opens the cover.
So when someone shows up in my replies with a token, I'm not reacting out of ignorance. I'm reacting out of something I earned.
Here's the problem with that defense.
The heat in my chest doesn't know any of it.
That reaction fires exactly the same way in a person who spent six years reading and getting burned, and in a person who read one thread and picked a team. The sensation is identical. The speed is identical. The fluency of the argument that follows is identical, and in my case probably better, because I've had more practice.
The reflex is not evidence that I'm right. That's the part I keep having to relearn. It isn't evidence that I'm wrong either. It's evidence of something much more specific and much less flattering: that the belief is load-bearing. Something is resting on it, and the machinery that protects what's resting on it got there before my reasoning did.
The order of events is the thing worth noticing. You imagine you encounter a claim, weigh it, and then feel something about the conclusion. In practice it runs backward. Something in the body moves first. A tightening, a flash of irritation, a quick pulse of dismissal, and it arrives before you have language for it. Orientation shifts, and then the reasoning shows up and organizes itself around the orientation.
You don't need to know anything about the wiring of your brain to verify this. Just watch what your body does the next time a claim pushes on your professional identity, your politics, your read on the economy. The tightening comes before the counterargument. The sequence is observable from the inside if you're willing to look at it while it's happening, which is the hard part, because at that moment you are very busy being right.
There's a cleaner version of this I think about a lot. An idea you turn over happily on a leisurely walk becomes something you defend the second you say it out loud and watch someone's face start to disagree.
Same idea. Same evidence. Nothing about the argument changed. What changed is that your standing is now in the room.
Alone, curiosity runs cheap. In public, where other people can see whether you hold up, the body reads the exposure and the defenses come up, and you can feel the switch flip inside a single sentence. What looks like a debate about facts is very often an effort to manage a threat that nobody at the table has named.
That gives you a map, and it's the most useful thing in this writing.
The topics you can turn over calmly are not the interesting ones. The ones that produce instant tension are showing you precisely where a belief has fused to who you are.
So I have a map of myself, and Bitcoin is on it in bright red. I don't have to guess. I can feel it every time someone replies.
And here's where I have to be careful, because there's an easy move available to me and it's wrong.
The easy move is to treat fusion as a verdict. To say: I react defensively about Bitcoin, therefore my Bitcoin position is suspect, therefore the intellectually honest thing is to hold it more loosely. That sounds humble. It's just a different way of letting the reflex make the decision.
Conviction that was earned gets fused to identity too. Maybe especially. You cannot spend years on something, take real losses, change how you live, publish a book about it, and somehow keep the conclusion stored at arm's length from yourself. That isn't how people work. The fusion is a byproduct of having done the work, not a sign that you skipped it.
Which means the reflex tells you something real and tells you nothing about the question. It says: this is load-bearing, there is weight here, be advised. It does not say whether the thing holding the weight is sound.
The only way to find out is the slow way, and the slow way is the one the reflex exists to prevent.
So what do I actually do with the guy in my replies.
I've stopped trying to not have the reaction. That project failed. The reflex fires on schedule, it fires in the person who wrote a book about The Belief Machine, and it fires in the middle of him noticing that it's firing. Knowing the name for something does not slow it down.
What seems available is smaller. There's a gap, maybe half a second wide, between the contraction and the sentence. Most of the time I miss it. Occasionally I don't, and when I don't, one question fits in there:
Am I about to answer this person, or am I about to defend something?
Those look nearly identical from the outside. The words can be the same words. But they're different activities, and I can usually tell which one I'm doing if I ask before I start rather than after I've posted.
When it's defending, the tell is that I already know how the exchange ends. I'm not curious what he'll say. I'm running a script I've run before, and the other person is scenery.
When it's answering, I don't know how it ends. Which is uncomfortable, and slower, and worse content.
I still believe Bitcoin is the superior asset and that it has a real shot at being sound money for a digital age. Nothing in here walks that back. I did the reading, I paid the tuition, and I'd make the same argument again tomorrow.
But I'd like the argument to be the reason I'm making it.
Right now, a lot of the time, the argument is just what showed up to explain the heat.

For fourteen hundred years the best minds alive believed the sun circled the earth.
The system worked. It predicted eclipses. It told sailors where they were. And every morning the evidence showed up right on schedule.
When a planet wandered off script, nobody threw out the model. They added a circle riding on a circle, and the planet fell back in line. It worked, so they used it again the next time. And again. Circles on circles, every repair making the system more elaborate and more trusted.
Nobody inside it experienced themselves as propping up a failing model. They experienced themselves as refining a successful one.
Stability is very easy to mistake for truth. One is about how well a system holds together on the inside. The other is about whether it matches the world. They overlap often enough that you stop checking.
The question isn’t if you have a model. You do. It’s what you keep adding circles to.

I just published a book I started writing many months ago while trying to understand why people can be so averse to Bitcoin.
It became a book about how identity, incentives, belonging, and responsibility shape the way we come to believe what we believe, using Bitcoin as a pressure environment that puts us in direct contact with who we say we are and who our actions reveal us to be.
Thank you everyone who encouraged me on this continued journey. I hope this leaves you seeing something familiar in a new way.

There will only ever be 21 million Bitcoin. Understand what true scarcity means.
Take the world’s wealth (≈$471T) and divide by 21 million Bitcoin = $22.4M per BTC. Even if BTC absorbs 5% of that, we are at $1.12M/Bitcoin 🤯 Makes sense to stack as hard as possible. Scarcity matters. Nothing compares.

Run your own node.
While miners secure the network by expending energy, full nodes enforce Bitcoin’s rules. A node independently verifies all transactions and blocks, rejecting anything invalid.
If a miner attempts to include fraudulent transactions, nodes will not accept the block. This balance ensures miners cannot change Bitcoin’s rules, as their work is always subject to verification by the wider network.
Nodes place ultimate authority in the hands of users, keeping Bitcoin decentralized and censorship-resistant.
Your node, and the rules it enforces, are how you tell the network “this is what Bitcoin is to me”

Thoughts on living in a simulation.
The simulation hypothesis suggests that our reality might be an artificial construct, a vast and intricate program running on a substrate beyond our comprehension. Popular versions imagine a highly advanced civilization creating worlds so detailed that the inhabitants believe them to be real. While this idea often appears in science fiction or technology debates, it also raises profound questions about the nature of consciousness itself.
If we are living in a sim, then our physical universe might be no more fundamental than the environment in a video game. The laws of physics could be rules coded into the system. Time and space might be parameters rather than absolutes. In such a scenario, the question becomes not only who or what created the simulation, but how consciousness emerges within it.
The traditional materialist view holds that consciousness arises from complex arrangements of matter. If the matter in our universe is simulated, then the same patterns could, in principle, give rise to simulated consciousness. This would mean that what we experience as awareness is not tied to the substance of the world, but to the structure and information within it. Consciousness would be a kind of pattern that could exist in any medium capable of supporting it.
Another possibility is that consciousness is not created inside the simulation at all. Instead, our subjective awareness could originate outside the system, with our simulated bodies and environments functioning as avatars. In this view, what you call your mind might be more like a receiver or interface, translating your true awareness into the language of the simulated world. Death would be less an end than a logout.
Some interpretations of the simulation hypothesis blend with ancient spiritual ideas. Mystical traditions have long described the world as an illusion, a dream, or a play of appearances. The point was never to dismiss life, but to remind us that the surface is not the whole. If the simulation hypothesis is correct, modern physics and ancient metaphysics might be pointing to the same insight: that what we take as ultimate reality could be a layer, not the source.
Critics argue that the simulation hypothesis is unfalsifiable. If every observation could be explained as part of the code, then no evidence could prove or disprove it. Yet even if it remains untestable, thinking in these terms changes how we approach the mystery of consciousness. It challenges the assumption that matter is the foundation and mind is an afterthought. It opens the possibility that awareness is primary, and the universe is an experience rendered for it.
If this is true, then the most important question is not whether we are in a simulation, but what the simulation is for. Are we here to learn? To evolve? To play? And if one day we discover that this reality is a construct, will that knowledge free us, or simply reveal that the layers go deeper than we imagined?
Thank you for reading 🙏

Thoughts on the domestication of money and how we set it free.
Before finance was spreadsheets and suits, before interest rates were set behind closed doors, before debt became the water we swim in, money was wild. It lived in the hands of traders, farmers, builders, and dreamers. It was grounded in effort, scarcity, and trust that came from relationships, not institutions.
Then came domestication.
Governments and central banks tamed money. They fenced it in, stamped it with authority, and told us it needed to be managed for our own good. They built artificial landscapes of credit, inflation, and policy controls, perfectly trimmed on the surface but disconnected from the soil of reality.
Bitcoin does not emerge from policy. It does not ask for trust. It does not rely on centralized control. It is born from energy and secured by math. It spreads without borders, adapts without permission, and survives without leadership.
Bitcoin brings money back to something natural, something earned, something no one can water down or rearrange from above. It does not live in the glass towers of Wall Street. It lives in code, in nodes, in the minds of those who choose to participate.
And like any wild system, it demands something from you.
There are no safety nets. No central bank to rescue you. No one to print more when things get tough. If you want to thrive here, you need to prepare. You need to learn. You need to take responsibility for your own outcomes.
That might sound harsh. But it is also liberating. Because in the wild, what you earn is yours. What you build cannot be diluted. And what you save is protected by the most powerful network on Earth.
Bitcoin does not offer you comfort. It offers you sovereignty. It invites you out of the artificial world of endless intervention and into a place where value is real, rules are fixed, and growth comes from effort.
It is not a garden.
It is a forest.
And in that forest, you are free.

Carl Jung believed that much of human behavior is shaped by archetypes, timeless patterns that live in the collective unconscious and surface in our stories, myths, and personalities.
When you look at Bitcoin through this lens, the culture is full of these archetypal roles.
🦸‍♂️The Hero is the Bitcoiner who endures every bear market and continues to hold through uncertainty.
🧙‍♂️The Sage is found in the cypherpunks, the teachers, and the builders who guide others with knowledge and clarity.
💥The Rebel shows up in the refusal to trust banks and governments, the instinct to resist authority, and the drive to create a parallel system.
🤣The Trickster is alive in the meme culture, where humor and satire reveal truths that debate alone cannot reach.
Each of us steps into one or more of the archetypal roles, and together we create the culture that keeps the network alive.
The question is not whether Bitcoiners have archetypes, but which ones dominate at different times. Are we collectively the Rebel fighting fiat corruption, the Hero surviving waves of volatility, or the Trickster laughing at the absurdity of the old system?

Bitcoiners & the OCEAN model of personality.
Psychologists often describe personality using the Big Five, also known as the OCEAN model. It looks at five broad traits: openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism.
Openness is curiosity and a willingness to explore new ideas. Many Bitcoiners score high here because it takes imagination to accept that money itself can be reinvented.
Conscientiousness is discipline and organization. High conscientious Bitcoiners methodically stack sats, set up secure cold storage, and plan for the long term. Low conscientious Bitcoiners may trade impulsively or chase pumps.
Extraversion measures how we gain energy. Extroverts thrive at meetups and orange pill conversations. Introverts prefer running nodes, studying history, and engaging in smaller circles.
Agreeableness is trust and cooperation. Bitcoiners often score lower here, showing skepticism of banks, governments, and mainstream narratives. That skepticism has been essential for Bitcoin’s survival.
Neuroticism measures emotional stability. Those high in neuroticism are more likely to panic sell in volatility, while those lower are calm hodlers who ride out the storms.
The OCEAN model is valuable because it is not about putting people in boxes. It shows where we lean across a spectrum. The more interesting question is whether Bitcoin attracts people with a certain mix of traits, or whether living with Bitcoin changes our personalities over time.

Bitcoin looks like code, but it behaves like myth.
The Rebel resists fiat and rejects the authority of banks and governments.
The Hero endures the storms, hodls through chaos, and faces down doubt.
The Sage builds, teaches, and passes down knowledge to the next generation.
The Trickster uses memes and satire to expose truths that rational argument cannot reach.
These are not random personalities. They are archetypes, timeless roles that Carl Jung believed live within the collective unconscious and repeat themselves throughout human history.
Bitcoin gives these archetypes a stage. It is more than money or technology. It is a living drama where deep human patterns act themselves out in real time.
The question is not whether these archetypes exist in Bitcoin. The question is which one you find yourself playing, and which one the network needs most today.

Thoughts on Awareness: The Self Behind the Self.
When you close your eyes and notice your thoughts, a strange thing happens. The thoughts move on their own. They appear and fade without your command, like clouds drifting across a sky you do not control. You can watch them, label them, even resist them, but they arise without asking your permission. This raises a question that has occupied philosophers and mystics for centuries: if you can observe your thoughts, are you the thoughts themselves, or the awareness that notices them?
The same is true for sensations. You can feel warmth, hear a sound, taste food, and notice all of it. Yet in every case, there seems to be something behind the experience, a presence that is aware of it. The body changes. The emotions shift. The scenery of life alters constantly. But this presence, the one that is aware, feels steady and unchanging.
Some traditions call this the witness, the observer behind all perception. In this view, you are not the body, not the thoughts, not the emotions, but the awareness in which all of these occur. This awareness does not come and go. It was here in childhood, it is here now, and it will be here in every moment you recognize it. The objects of awareness may change, but the fact of being aware remains constant.
From a scientific perspective, the observer is harder to define. Neuroscience can track the processes by which the brain processes information, integrates sensory data, and generates a sense of self. Yet none of these explanations capture the immediacy of awareness itself. They describe the machinery, not the light by which the machinery is seen.
The question becomes more complex when we consider that the observer and the observed might not be separate at all. In some contemplative states, the distinction collapses. The sound of rain is not something you hear, it is simply happening. The breath is not something you watch, it is simply breathing. In these moments, there is no subject and object, only the immediacy of experience.
This raises the possibility that the observer is not a detached entity sitting behind the scenes, but an inseparable aspect of what is observed. Awareness and its contents might be two sides of the same reality. The separation is a useful construction, a way for the mind to organize and navigate the world, but not an absolute truth.
If you are the observer, then your essence is untouched by the storms of life. If you are the observed, then you are the living fabric of the world itself. And if the two are one, then there has never been a division to reconcile, only a recognition to awaken to.
The question may never be answered in words, but it can be felt. Sit still. Notice what is here before the next thought arrives. Notice the awareness that is aware of itself. In that moment, the question dissolves, and what remains is not a label, but the simple fact of being.
