The Becker/Ka-Bar version of the Kephart.

Amazing story behind this knife. Horace Kephart, outdoor writer, came up with this design over a hundred years ago. A handful were made at the time. Drawings of it, of course, were published in his book, and knife makers have been making "Kephart" knives for decades.

But none of them got it right, because the subtleties of the blade shape didn't translate through a simple drawing. Then the only known original knife in private ownership came up for sale, was purchased by Ethan Becker, and he immediately noticed the nuances of the design (convex profile, tapered tang, etc). And he chose to share it with the world by allowing Ka-Bar to manufacture a production version based on the historic original.

https://youtu.be/tA00VxcamT8

2026-04-10T02:01:58Z https://njump.cloud.vinney.xyz/nevent1qqsfdv363dnhhfkr3y5uc8fsvhgauehtl7pmn7r68f8p5la3g9gcegszypuhw5qyr5fkd2qdghsnpjp37ptzkhmjvenzkpavaagd64qmlgjn25m28q0 Old shed, with an old car parked out front. #ruralruins in St Clair county, Missouri.

#grownostr #getoutside 2026-04-08T16:34:00Z https://njump.cloud.vinney.xyz/nevent1qqs8cnwaua6aucjhxkwa2glek9mrg58j7afnrdt3s40m7jwhd4mkcfqzypuhw5qyr5fkd2qdghsnpjp37ptzkhmjvenzkpavaagd64qmlgjn2v7jy7l In reply to nevent1q…w0g7
_________________________

Oh, I will. And gratitude that the deer was created for the purpose of providing sustenance for man. 2025-11-27T23:55:50Z https://njump.cloud.vinney.xyz/nevent1qqsd6h9cr0ncq80tpxcy2j8a2z3753nu7fqhypmdxqv32leypvc9q0szypuhw5qyr5fkd2qdghsnpjp37ptzkhmjvenzkpavaagd64qmlgjn2hmj9rw I passed up a buck on opening day, and then had several days without having a shot at anything.

Then this guy walked through this morning.

8 point, taken with a Marlin 30-30

#huntstr #grownostr #gunstr #getoutside 2025-11-27T20:06:34Z https://njump.cloud.vinney.xyz/nevent1qqszpp7qgsmmnngccm6uhf87646dxrq2crr45h8xjcd7hrjprm40lfgzypuhw5qyr5fkd2qdghsnpjp37ptzkhmjvenzkpavaagd64qmlgjn2w8nwt2 Fiat mining activities for this week:

Wastewater system install

1000 gallon septic tank, 1000 gallon pump tank, flowing out to 400 feet of low-profile chambers

Completed the job before the rain arrived, passed county inspection, and the homeowner was thoroughly impressed with our skill and efficiency.

Now I'm going to give myself a day off to go deer hunting.

#proofofwork #skilledtrades #grownostr #soil 2025-11-20T20:17:35Z https://njump.cloud.vinney.xyz/nevent1qqsvaye73t6n48hxvwx5g0jsxknr9hl0dk6n3h5flhw9hjlg2avyatgzypuhw5qyr5fkd2qdghsnpjp37ptzkhmjvenzkpavaagd64qmlgjn2rcdfsz I bought the dip,

and I just shot the possum that's been eating my eggs for last two and a half weeks.

Today was a good day. 2025-11-15T00:45:58Z https://njump.cloud.vinney.xyz/nevent1qqsv38xkds8ymrx2nnumlqc6jc4wrd5pgzhgph8h0pmwzsa9zzac3jczypuhw5qyr5fkd2qdghsnpjp37ptzkhmjvenzkpavaagd64qmlgjn2elvzqw Backcountry trips are better with reliable gear. My great grandpa bought it new. He died before I was born and the tractor passed to my grandpa. He used it while I was growing up. He taught me to drive it about age 13 to 14.

Then Grandpa upgraded to a newer tractor with a cab and the old Ford was sold to my dad sometime during my high school years. I drove it to school once for FFA week and took a few of the girls in my class for rides around the parking lot.

I was borrowing the tractor when I was starting up my own farm and it caught fire in my shop, and burned up the wiring, battery, instrument panel, and steering column. Dad got the insurance payout and bought a different tractor.

I paid the salvage cost to keep the old tractor and we spent the following winter totally rebuilding it, reworked the engine, gaskets, injectors etc. Had the alternator, fuel pump, radiator, clutch, and starter all rebuilt. New tires, new paint job, new wiring harness and instrument panel, and turned some new shifter knobs on the lathe. Now it's ready for about three more generations to enjoy. 2025-08-30T21:38:06Z https://njump.cloud.vinney.xyz/nevent1qqsy9w8f0wl9n2fv6tz8r57ase8fjh0u20vly8d66c23j7jnn38xqaqzypuhw5qyr5fkd2qdghsnpjp37ptzkhmjvenzkpavaagd64qmlgjn2dslrae In reply to nevent1q…2yp2
_________________________

True, axes are awesome.

In fact, I'm in my shop, so here are the axes I currently have within reach.

2025-08-29T22:27:26Z https://njump.cloud.vinney.xyz/nevent1qqs800swek4negyc83kynua4mgdtc9qqsjzg8lpqp8v7tl6mu8v0vkqzypuhw5qyr5fkd2qdghsnpjp37ptzkhmjvenzkpavaagd64qmlgjn2tepk8m In reply to nevent1q…8r62
_________________________

Yeah.
