I thought my vision was deteriorating because of cataracts but they&#39;re still not ripe. It&#39;s macular degeneration due to old age and severe myopia. The doc told me I needed to go see the &#34;retina people.&#34; Sounds like an eldritch race out of HG Wells.<br/><br/>My prescription is so much worse that I had to order new glasses. Luckily I get them online and they were just under $200 with tax and shipping. In a brick and mortar place they&#39;d be over a thousand.<br/><br/>So I&#39;m literally going blind but not bad enough to lose my driver&#39;s license yet apparently.<br/><br/>Speaking of driving, getting home after being dilated for the tests was hair-raising but I made it safely without hitting anybody or anything so that&#39;s something I guess. My eldest (who is nocturnal) was up and got sucked in. I was pleased by this because I&#39;ve been trying to get him to read the series for years. I read Interview when I was in high school, a few years after it came out, and have re-read it several times over the years but not recently. I&#39;ve also read all the other Vampire Chronicles, but not as many times as Interview.<br/><br/>I really like how they changed Louis and Claudia&#39;s race, and moved the timeline up 100 years so they could do a Sinners-esque commentary on racism in the South. And it&#39;s beautifully shot. The show really outdoes the book, which isn&#39;t a common thing to happen.<br/><br/>I took my afternoon nap and when I woke up, my kid was waiting patiently for me to get up so he could tell me that the third season would be based on The Vampire Lestat, complete with a live music tour in character. And they&#39;re coming to Oakland. He&#39;s declared we are going to it and as soon as the dates are released we&#39;ll buy tickets.<br/><br/>I haven&#39;t been to a concert in years, how exciting! And even though I&#39;m old and not really a sexual being anymore, Sam Reid&#39;s Lestat makes my heart throb, just a little. Fucking Tom Cruise in the movie was awful. I hate that shrimpy Scientologist.
