it was a very strange theater experience. There were good laughs, gasps, someone audibly said "what the fuck" at some point.

I don't know if it added to or detracted from the movie, because I was annoyed the people behind me were sometimes scream-laughing at things which were not overly comedic (basically just at Fielder being regular-awkward lol)

But everyone was very invested in the movie which IME is pretty rare at our theater at least post-covid.

Not since watching Bo Burnham's Inside for the first time have I experienced the level of sheer artistic achievement that You Can See Everything is.

I've been extremely hyped for this movie for weeks now, and it overdelivered. I don't even normally enjoy documentaries, but apparently sometimes the best film of the year is the best documentary of the year.

And sometimes the best documentary of the year is a stylistically astounding, batshit insane, 3 hour psychological mind fuck masterpiece.

I was sitting up straight in my chair, mouth agape for basically the entire last 2 hours of this movie. I question who the subject of this movie really was, I have so many ethical questions about the whole thing even being made. AVOID SPOILERS AT ALL COSTS. 10/10

It seems just as likely to me that new parents resent their own overprotective parents, and simply (correctly) recognize that it was a massive overreaction in the first place. Nostalgia media like Stranger Things probably plays a role in that.

In a sense it’s kind of awesome the components shortage is forcing hardware and software developers to optimize their shit far more than they otherwise would.

I guess it only works out in the long term if we eventually get back to having normal hardware and we get to run this ultra-optimized system on top of it though. But I think that’s a big IF, and they might be perfectly happy selling no RAM to everyone forever.

Anyways, I do agree. It’s tough for me to support datasets being locked up though. Like I would pay for a proper indexing & search tool, but I’d want it to be a useful tool atop raw data that could be preserved collectively in a decentralized manner, as opposed to paying for access to some data that only one person has, who could disappear at any time.

I’ve seen a lot of people post that their phones are still downloading 26.7 when they try to specifically install 27, which makes me wonder if there was a bug with going straight to 27 that they had to fix in 26 first.

it’s tough that GrapheneOS is *both* the best de-Googled and the best Googled experience for Android simultaneously, because that makes it hard for anyone to realistically justify not using it given the option.

Nearly all other “de-Googled” forks including Calyx and /e/ remain extremely Googled, simply because AOSP itself is extremely Googled and these forks don’t attempt to replace any of the networked services. Even microG is largely just a more convoluted way to directly connect to Google servers for a lot of stuff, outside of a limited number of things they can change like location services.

I’m not saying I *don’t* want to recommend GrapheneOS to people, but—as it is in any field—more actual competition would be an extremely welcome thing :/

After spending a lot of time thinking about who could have possibly asked for iPhone Handoff, I think I've decided it could be a useful feature for travelers.

Maybe you want a backup device for redundancy when you're away from home, or you want to walk around some cities with a burner phone while you leave your main phone in a hotel safe, or you travel across borders (or... attend protests?) with a phone that has far less data on it than your primary device.

Based on the Z Fold 8 I think we’re kind of at that point of maturity. Assuming Apple’s inherits that from Samsung. I messed around with a Z Fold 7 last year and I was surprised how much more finished/reliable the 8 feels, it kind of feels like we’re now in the iterative stage of foldables. I’m sure Apple’s software this year will certainly have some growing pains though lol
