Great things happen when Bitcoiners join forces!

Over 30 people learned completely FREE what Bitcoin is truly about, and 2 have already become users of the Bitcoin network, now holding their own private keys after attending our very affordable Self Custody workshops.

This was only possible through the collaboration between Stacked, the best Bitcoin-only exchange in NZ, run by proper maxis; Radical Investments, pioneers in the industry enabling Bitcoin exposure in kiwis retirement plans (KiwiSaver); and ourselves, Bitcoin Journey.

Hopefully, the first collaboration of many, helping deliver free, and sustainable, Bitcoin education across Aotearoa.

Big thanks to Criterion Law Firm and the BitcoinBasinNZ (nprofile…3sdy) , whose support allows us to run workshops just like these ones, free and open to everyone in Queenstown twice a month.

Scammers will use every opportunity they can to exploit people.

Below is someone impersonating as official Trezor taking advantage of the recent Coldcard vulnerability to create even more confusion, panic, and urgency. This mail was sent to someone who recently attended one of our Self Custody group workshops.

Most people don’t follow this space closely and could easily fall for something like this. That’s why the role of educators is so important: to be a beacon people can turn to whenever they need help navigating this new frontier.

The Bitcoin Journey is incredibly rewarding, but it also comes with many risks and dangers.

Ultimately, our role is to help people spot the difference between noise and signal.

Seen many posts on X from Bitcoiners saying that Bitcoin has no market fit as a Medium of Exchange, and that spending sats is dumb as fiat/stablecoins have a better use case.

My two sats below:

It is THANKS TO THE SPENDERS that Bitcoin has its current level of adoption.

Would Bitcoin be where it is today if Laszlo had never bought those pizzas with Bitcoin? If everyone had only hodled?

Of course paying in fiat/stablecoins is (currently) more convenient and smoother. It’s weaker money, and the rails of the fiat system have been built over hundreds of years.

But when you pay in Bitcoin, you send a HUGE message to the merchant, their staff, and their customers:

“This is the money I choose, and I value your service enough to pay you with the best money ever created.”

Just ask yourself: would you rather be paid in Bitcoin or fiat?

Hyperbitcoinization is inevitable, but it’s up to us whether it takes 20 years or 100.

Normalizing Bitcoin and making it real and tangible for everyday people is how we accelerate adoption.

Especially considering how easy it is to Spend & Replace thanks to Lightning.

In our local circular economy, BitcoinBasinNZ (npub1uht…fp46) , 50+ merchants currently accept Bitcoin and the main reason is simple: we actively support the merchants who are open minded enough to accept it.

When you offer to pay in Bitcoin, you create an incentive for merchants to consider it and eventually accept it.

Paying in Bitcoin is one of the easiest and most effective ways to get people started on their Bitcoin Journey.

It’s almost a public service for the network…just like in the early days, when people gave away literally hundreds of bitcoin so others could become familiar with the technology.

It’s your money. You can do whatever you want with it.

But if you want to see hyperbitcoinization in your lifetime, consider using it.

How to orange pill ANY small business/startup (restaurants, food trucks, etc) in few simple steps.

Only requirement: a small group of passionate Bitcoiners.

Us: “Hi, we are looking for a venue to host our monthly meetup and group events. Would it be possible to book a table for 5–10 people?”

Venue: “Sure!”

Us: “Great! There’s just one thing, we host our meetups only at places that accept Bitcoin payments. Would you be open to giving it a try?

There are zero costs involved and we can set you up in no time, is as easy as downloading an app (wallet). The best part is there’s zero risk: if you decide you don’t want to keep the Bitcoin, we can buy it back from you in cash at the end of the event.”

Venue says Yes: they made a sale and gained new loyal customers only for being open minded.

Venue says No: they lost a decent sale

Its all about the incentives. Spending bitcoin is how you create an incentive to accept bitcoin and this is how we accelerate adoption.

This is one of the many reasons why we have gone from 0 to 50+ merchants at BitcoinBasinNZ (nprofile…5c6t) in less in 18 months.

We use Wallet of Satoshi (nprofile…0n4h) because of its UX and the very handy POS feature. Showing business bitcoin adoption in the BTC Map (nprofile…v3dy) also helps a lot.

Particularly in New Zealand, this is becoming increasingly easy as well thanks to Bitcoin-only exchanges like Stacked, where you can instantly spend & replace using lightning.

This is how we make bitcoin tangible, real for no-coiners…before they know it, they have started their Bitcoin Journey.

Bitcoin is money, but only if we use it as such.

Onwards.

P.S: So far, nobody has asked for cash instead of Bitcoin at the end of the event, but they have all wanted to learn more about Bitcoin. Once they grasp it is very much like digital gold, they figure it is best to just HODL.

The recent Coldcard security vulnerability is significant enough to serve as an important reminder for all of us to review our self-custody practices.

That's why we'll be hosting a community support event at the BitcoinBasinNZ (npub1uht…fp46) on the 10th of August at 5:30 PM in Frankton.

If you own a Coldcard, you need to ACT NOW. Please don't wait until next week. Contact us immediately, and we'll help in any way we can.

This event is for you if you:

- Have concerns about your current Bitcoin setup.

-Have questions about hardware wallets.

-Want to understand the details of the
Coinkite incident and what went wrong.

-Want to learn how to generate your own entropy.

-Have any questions about Bitcoin or self-custody in general.

The event is free and open to everyone.

Yep, and we all repeated the mantra “don’t trust, verify” like sheep’s but none of us really verified… we trust other people to do so, which explains the existence of the bug since 2021 completely unnoticed until the disaster happened.

I still believe HWs with open source entropy are good for beginners, for people who dip their toe in Bitcoin (like we all did at first) but as the value of our stack grows inevitably we need to keep up to date and upgrade… as Andreas said, security is not binary, is a spectrum.

Time to take seriously creating your own entropy + multisig from different manufacturers.

It always sucks to learn this lessons the hard way, but hopefully we all grow stronger from this.

Hodling is hard enough. But there was a great sense of peace ...

2026-08-01T00:12:56Z

Hodling is hard enough.

But there was a great sense of peace knowing when you generated your private key offline using a reputable hardware wallet.

You “knew” that your Bitcoin were “safe” and that your low time preference would eventually be rewarded.

First came Ledger, with its “Recovery” service, meaning a third party could access your private key remotely… which made you take action.

Now Coinkite, with its lack of enough entropy since 2021, has shown that this sense of being “safe” was a pure illusion.

Bitcoin as a protocol is still unbeaten and one of the greatest inventions in human history. It is the foundation for a better future, but now more than ever we need to focus on education and verifying everything.

Undoubtedly self-custody is still the way, but the path towards Bitcoin adoption got a lot steeper.

We have a lot of work to do.

Stay humble, and stack sats safely.

This is so significant that it’s likely to change the ...

2026-07-31T21:34:46Z

This is so significant that it’s likely to change the industry’s seed generation standards.

If you have funds on COLDCARD and its seed has been generated by the device and not dice entropy you need to ACT NOW.

Feel free to reach out if you need any help.

Self Custody is still the way, but this is a massive blow for the Bitcoin community and Bitcoin adoption.

quoting
nevent1q…07d8
This is worse than any previous Bitcoin exchange hack. It is arguably one of the worst things that could happen.

The popular hardware wallet COLDCARD has a faulty random number generator (RNG). Funds are being drained from ordinary users’ hardware wallets as you read this.

Users first reported to Block less than 24 hours ago that funds were moving out of their wallets. The exploit was most likely discovered with the help of AI. Block has confirmed that the RNG is broken. You know what that means.

There are likely already multiple attackers competing for the affected BTC. Many more will join very soon.

Nobody knows how much BTC is affected.

Nobody knows how many users are affected.

This attack has only just begun, and it will continue until all affected BTC has been drained unless users secure their funds first. Inevitably, many Bitcoiners will not hear about the incident early enough to respond in time.

I am truly saddened for everyone affected, especially those who may have just lost their life savings.

The worst part is that they did everything right.

What is the common denominator among genuine Bitcoin educators?

It's all about empowering others.

The best Bitcoin educators don't tell people what to think.

Instead, they give the people the tools to choose for themselves, freely.

Below are just some of the projects, organizations, and people we've had the privilege of meeting personally over the past six months.

Every one of them has strengthened our conviction that lasting Bitcoin education is built on passion, not profit.

myfirstbitcoin (npub17cy…4ml3) JohnDennehy (nprofile…eadp) luislei_mfb (nprofile…384x) HRF (nprofile…297e) BitcoinBerlínSV (nprofile…uv88) AmityAge (npub17f0…v8ue) BTCsessions (npub1rxy…hnp8) joenakamoto (nprofile…20wr) lunaticoin (nprofile…gh2f) Bruno (nprofile…4jg3) labitcoineta (nprofile…vz3a) RodolfoBITS (nprofile…p7vz) LaCryptaOk (nprofile…phhu) agustinkassis (nprofile…9v8z) Escuelita Bitcoin (nprofile…jvaa)

There's no doubt in our mind that one day the world will be inevitably Bitcoinized, full of sovereign individuals.

How soon we get there though, depends on the work we do today.

This is where purpose meets opportunity.

Hyperinflation.

Overnight confiscation of the life savings of millions of people (just Google “Corralito 2001 Argentina”).

Pretty much every monetary disaster you can think of…Argentina has been there.

There is a reason countries like Argentina, Venezuela, and many parts of Africa are among the fastest adopters of Bitcoin.

1.2 TH of Bitcoin mining heading from Central Europe to the bottom of the world 🇳🇿

It was great meeting the Bitronic (npub1nra…veny) team in person at BTCPrague (npub167n…zu3r) . They not only manufacture Bitaxe and Nerdaxe miners, but actively contribute to open-source hardware development, helping towards a more decentralized mining network.

The miner was paid in sats Lightning fast using New Zealand’s finest non-custodial Bitcoin wallet, Stacked. ⚡🧡

What do Bitcoin, Nostr, and AI have in common?

If used properly, they are all tools for sovereignty.

Really enjoyed the panel with Jeff Booth (nprofile…jnua) Francis Mars (nprofile…m4qr) , Tanja (nprofile…vdkn) Constant (nprofile…4aea) at BTCPrague (npub167n…zu3r)

Its a great sign being able to tag everyone in Nostr, unlike X 🤣

I would suggest everyone in Nostr keep April 2 to 3, 2027 on their radar,
the Sovereignty Summit in Queenstown New Zealand, where will explore how Bitcoin and other freedom technologies help us become more sovereign across every aspect of our life.

Bitcoin educators from all over the world came together under one roof to share their experiences and learn from one another.

An incredible pure signal event made possible by myfirstbitcoin (npub17cy…4ml3) and AmityAge (npub17f0…v8ue)

Honored to share the panel with JohnDennehy (nprofile…05us) and Jordi from Satlantis (nprofile…2qnh) and discuss ways of making Bitcoin education sustainable.

Here’s to many more Bitcoin Educators Unconferences to come…Hopefully we can host one in New Zealand in the near future. ⚡🇳🇿

What do frontline human rights activists and Bitcoin developers have in common?

They are builders.

Good intentions are not enough to build a better future, it requires skill, commitment, and purpose.

And the Oslo Freedom Forum by HRF (nprofile…9764) is creating the perfect conditions for all of this to flourish.

A truly incredible conference, with a huge amount of work happening behind the scenes…you can tell because everything ran extremely smoothly.

Hats off

We are lucky to have many passionate Bitcoiners in BitcoinBasinNZ (nprofile…sxv8) to support new Bitcoin merchants!

What is the incentive for a business to start accepting Bitcoin?

Well, having many new and loyal customers sounds like a great incentive to me!

Adoption will only grow if we USE Bitcoin, so spending and replacing is the way! And in NZ it’s never been easier thanks to Stacked, from fiat to Lightning in just a few seconds.

Please give a warm welcome to 2 new users of the Bitcoin Network!

In just a few hours they learned the importance of holding their own keys and completed their first transactions, both on-chain and through the Lightning Network ⚡️

These personalised, accessible, step-by-step workshops are only possible thanks to the strong collaboration between Bitcoiners, which is helping build one of the fastest-growing circular economies: BitcoinBasinNZ (nprofile…mvd2)

The question is:

If someone else can freeze or devalue your money, do you really own it?

Learn how to truly own your money.

This month we met at Momentos by the Lake, with breathtaking views and seriously good food, paying for everything in #Bitcoin.

Grateful for the people who keep showing up, sharing, and building this community together.

Join us every 3rd Thursday of the month, a relaxed space to connect, learn, and be part of something growing. Everyone’s welcome.

It is easy to call Bitcoin a Ponzi.

The hard part is explaining how it works.

People claiming it has no value, most likely fail to explain in simple terms:

Halving
Difficulty adjustment
Private key
BIP 39
SHA-256
Proof of Work

Bitcoin is an incredibly sophisticated and balanced system, the kind that only a very bright mind (or group of them) could create.

I have yet to meet someone who understands difficulty adjustment and is not optimistic about #Bitcoin.

The POW LAB is the headquarters of BitcoinBasinNZ (nprofile…9r2p)

A place where we not only host Bitcoin workshops for the local community, but also welcome Bitcoiners and open-source builders from all over the world, offering them a desk to work on freedom technologies.

This space is only possible thanks to the generosity and collaboration among Bitcoiners. And because of that, we couldnt miss the opportunity to bring in some of the outstanding work created by the people we met in El Salvador during @PlanBElsalvador :

• The beautiful original painting by @LewickiBartosz portraying the unstoppable honey badger against the fiat system

• Bitcoin Circular Economies: documenting grassroots Bitcoin adoption and how it empowers communities and individuals around the world by @ivan_kaleja, @GabrielKurman, @b4_humanity

• Bitcoin Prophecy: What Argentina Can Teach You About Your Money by @arielaguilar

• Bitcoin Para Negocios: a practical guide for merchants, created by @Evelynlemus2906 and implemented in @BitcoinBerlinSV
(especially relevant given the strong Latin American community in QT)

All of these are now part of the community library, available for anyone to read and admire.

If you’re coming to Queenstown, make sure to come and check out the amazing POW LAB! A fantastic place to connect and build. (https://powlab.nz/)

We just witnessed in real time how Open Claw can:

• Make phone calls on your behalf, using your voice.
• Build a webpage in minutes.
• Create its own Bitcoin wallet and send/receive sats.

From here, there are only two options:

An exciting path, if we pay attention and adapt.

An unsettling path, if we decide to ignore whats happening.

We all have a choice to make.

“The outcome of World Bank and the IMF policies on the Third ...

2026-02-23T23:16:05Z

“The outcome of World Bank and the IMF policies on the Third World has been remarkably similar to what was experienced under traditional imperialism: wage deflation, a loss of autonomy, and agricultural dependency. The big difference is that, in the new system, the sword and the gun have been replaced by weaponized debt.”

After reading “Hidden Repression: How the IMF and World Bank Sell Exploitation as Development” by gladstein (nprofile…v7g4) , you realize that some international organizations, while pretending to be a helping hand, may actually be the boot that prevents developing countries from standing up and thriving.

Many real cases are documented in the book, but one thing in particular stands out and should undeniably raise a red flag (or at least an eyebrow): the billions of dollars loaned by these institutions to authoritarian regimes all over the world.

It is hard enough to hold democratically elected officials accountable, imagine dictators who care only about power and violence.

What do you think they will do when borrowing money they do not have to repay themselves? As always, the ones who pay the price are the most vulnerable.

I started reading this book in El Salvador while visiting blossoming Bitcoin circular economies such as Bitcoin Beach and BitcoinBerlínSV (nprofile…x40a) . Witnessing them firsthand is powerful, they are living proof that Bitcoin realigns incentives and, in doing so, helps prevent this kind of abuse from taking place.

That is one of the many reasons why Bitcoin is hope.

2026-02-19T04:11:31Z

If you are visiting El Salvador, you must get in touch with Napoleon Osorio (npub18rj…fxch)

Napo will sort you out with:
•Airport transfers
•Vehicle rentals
•Tours to circular economies such as El Zonte, Berlin, Santa Ana and more, where you can see firsthand how Bitcoin is reshaping communities.

Being able to pay for everything with #bitcoin is not even the best part, having a friendly, professional, and reliable local is.

We will definitely get in touch again when we return to El Salvador.

Gracias Napo!
