I really really hate running. It is stupid and idiotic and hurty and hot and my legs hurt and it's night time and I just want pie and sleep. Why can't it be pie and sleep time. Why must it always be hot and hurty time. Why not pastry and restorative rest. Why can't I get what I need from flour. Flour loves me. Running is my sworn enemy. I've got a bit weird about talking about this online since diagnosis; primarily since the big push towards over-diagnosis and the medicalisation of the human condition. But I realise we should probably talk about it for visibility and so we don't feel alone, like I have a bit recently. After 5 years of extremely intrusive tests, and a general sense of 'everyone thinks they're AuDHD nowadays', which I pursued largely because a raft of previous diagnoses didn't really fit, I had a final Dx of definitely 100% no question AuDHD. However, the ongoing public narrative has convinced me that I am a stupid attention-seeking fool. I was offered medication, and despite living my life for nearly 5 decades without it, I thought it might be interesting to try it for focus. It worked but the side effects were unexpected and I immediately thought I was a huge fraud and that this journey I've been on has been some kind of incredibly self-serving nonsense, and that I'm stealing resources from people in actual need. Cue a lot of spiralling. I had a meeting today to talk about it, and was fortunate enough to have a consultant who was brilliant - basically called me a dickhead and pointed out the very very long diagnostic process isn't just guesswork and I didn't 'trick' them into believing I'm something I'm not. Still I'm not convinced. But I realise I'm probably not alone in this. It seems very very cruel to me. The journey I went on was emotionally extremely difficult and stressful. But I'm infinitely grateful to the community on here who have helped me more than I can express. If anyone feels the same or ever wants to talk about it or just shoot the shit and talk about stuff, I am always happy to chat and you're welcome to message me separately. X😊❤️

Just reading a news article that one of the singers from the Four Tops went to hospital with chest pains, then when he told them who he was (because he was worried about stalkers/fans and wanted to make sure security was OK) they assumed he was mentally unwell and popped him in a straightjacket and locked him up. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. They could literally just have looked it up. When it was discovered they offered him a $25 gift certificate to apologise but he's suing them (obviously).

Edit - I didn't mention, because I thought it was obviously implied, but realised after it might not be obvious - he's Black and seems unlikely this would have happened had he not been Black.

Edit2 - having said that, I do realise that if he was white and said he was a member of the Four Tops, they might have also not believed him.

As I'm sure you already know (and are probably in full swing celebrations at this point), today is 'End of the Middle Ages Day'. Celebrating the fall of Constantinople to the Ottomans in 1453, an event many see as the close of the Middle Ages. But more importantly, 'End of the Middle Ages Day' underlines the transition from the Dark Ages (characterised by feudalism, religious persecution, and plague) to a period of rebirth in arts, science, and philosophy known as the Renaissance.

Of course we now find ourselves 571 years later, still fighting feudalist politics, religious persecution, and plague - whilst our arts, science, and philosophy is under attack. So wouldn't it be absolutely marvellous if we see another Renaissance in 2024 and an end to Dark Age of the last 10 or 15 years.

It's quite funny to me that the country's national state sponsored radio openly acknowledged daily that virtually everyone in the country is desperately unhappy at the moment and even runs features on how we might be able to artificially increase our happiness, even in the face of it all. Why has it been normalised for a whole country to be sad. If you were looking at it from a biological/ecological viewpoint you would say that system is malfunctioning, you'd then look for what was making it sick and fix it.
