New leadership can rewrite it, or simply never finish it.<br/><br/>An unfinished rule is just a draft.<br/><br/>So why not speed it up?<br/><br/>US law generally requires agencies to publish a proposal and take public comments before a rule becomes final.<br/><br/>If the agency cuts corners, a judge can block the rule on procedural grounds. ⚖️<br/><br/>Seiberg expects legal challenges could run past 2028 even if the CFTC is careful. <br/><br/>Congress had a chance to make this permanent.<br/><br/>The Senate failed an initial vote on a broad crypto bill that would have given the CFTC authority over spot trading.<br/><br/>That leaves a real choice.<br/><br/>Rules from Congress are slow but hard to undo.
