When Anthropic released its Mythos and Fable models, the Commerce Department slapped export controls on them, effectively pulling the most powerful versions offline.

Anthropic is still in negotiations with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick to get those models fully restored. A company has even filed a lawsuit arguing the government's use of export controls against AI models exceeds the bounds of the Export Control Reform Act.

OpenAI appears to be taking the cooperative route to avoid the same fate. Rather than release GPT-5.6 broadly and risk getting hit with restrictions after the fact, the company is working with the government upfront.

Altman framed it as the fastest path to a wide release, saying he hopes a general rollout could follow "a couple of weeks later" if the preview period goes well.

What's emerging is a de facto licensing regime for frontier AI models. The government is not passing legislation that says it can approve or deny access to AI models. There is no formal regulatory framework for this.

Instead, it is using a combination of export controls, voluntary safety review agreements, and direct pressure on companies to achieve the same result. OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, Microsoft, and xAI have all agreed to provide the government early access to new models for national security evaluations.

The conflict of interest dimension is also worth noting. Commerce Secretary Lutnick, who is leading the crackdown, has reported financial ties to OpenAI, Anthropic's chief competitor. Congressional members have raised this publicly alongside concerns about the precedent being set.

This is the new reality for AI development in the United States. The most powerful models now require government sign-off before they reach the public. No law was passed. No vote was taken.

The government now decides who gets access to the most powerful AI models and who doesn't. That is not national security. That is a licensing regime built through enforcement actions and backroom pressure.

2026-06-26T13:25:38Z https://njump.cloud.vinney.xyz/nevent1qqsz9g5w2y9mg4pkr2cn453sgadhj03fneaatdu762wuv5a5c8cnt0czyr0t0nw3gs7pfm5ejz2cwwxjd8xcduzemf3cz43tnx36fd7sryjzxu8d7qk

2025-12-26T03:55:02Z https://njump.cloud.vinney.xyz/nevent1qqsypk5hvd209a6ejkz5a0s0l433d7u4s5lyp05scy4t64ffhjg6j9gzyr0t0nw3gs7pfm5ejz2cwwxjd8xcduzemf3cz43tnx36fd7sryjzxpydluh This is my Christmas Gift idea for my Teenage nieces and nephews if anyone needs a idea.

I’m keeping with my Bitcoin theme from last year, but this time I wanted to do something more creative, easier, and hopefully more interesting.

This year’s gift comes with two options, so you can choose what works best for you.

🎯 Goal (Why I’m Doing This)

Bitcoin has some benefits here in Canada, where we’re lucky to live with relatively stable money and banking.

But around the world, Bitcoin can have very different and often more important uses — helping people:

move money when banks don’t work

save when local currencies are unstable

maintain financial freedom in difficult situations

many other advantages

This challenge is simply a way to explore those real-world uses through true stories, not theory or price talk.

🅱️ Option B — Take the Gift (No Work Required)

You can choose to simply take the money as your Christmas gift.

Payment method is your choice:

Bitcoin

E-transfer

Cash (next time I see you)

No questions asked.

🅰️ Option A — Bitcoin Story Challenge

If you choose Option A, you can still receive the money, plus a chance at a bonus.

What You Need To Do

Submit 2 real, uniquely different stories where Bitcoin helped make something positive possible that likely wouldn’t have worked otherwise.

These must be real-world examples, not opinions or price talk.

📝 Story Requirements

For each story:

Explain:

What happened

Why Bitcoin mattered

Why it likely wouldn’t have worked without Bitcoin

Length: 5–8 sentences or short bullet points

Writing skill doesn’t matter — clarity does

🧾 Proof (Required)

Each story must include proof it’s real, such as:

A website or article link

A screenshot (headline, tweet, website section, etc.)

No proof = it doesn’t count.

🔀 “Uniquely Different” Means…

Your two stories must be in different categories, for example:

Journalism / free speech

Humanitarian aid

Remittances

Refugees / migration

Creators or artists

Energy / infrastructure

Censorship or sanctions

Privacy or safety

Two stories about the same type of thing won’t qualify.

🏆 Bonus (Option A Only)

$$$ for completing Option A

+ bonus for the best overall 2-story submission

“Best” = clarity, uniqueness, and understanding — not length.

🤖 Using AI

You’re allowed (and encouraged) to use AI to:

Find story ideas

Summarize articles

Help explain things clearly

You still need to:

Verify the story is real

Include proof

Use your own words

⏰ Deadline (Option A)

January 31st

This is intentionally generous.

📤 How to Choose & The energy in the room reminded us why we do this — real people, real conversations, and real community.

We gathered not just to remember Satoshi’s white paper, but to live it.
To build something that can’t be censored, can’t be inflated away, and can’t be stopped.
Bitcoin is more than code — it’s a tool for human freedom, and everyone who showed up helped prove that.

From the pizza and prizes to the games, debates, and AI table experiments — the night was packed with orange-pilled energy and genuine connection.

A massive thank-you to the sponsors who made it possible:
Bitcoin Well, Cash2Crypto, SustainHash, Quickbit, and Bull Bitcoin.
Your support helps make community events like this thrive — and keeps the signal strong here in Alberta and beyond.

As the surveillance state grows louder, gatherings like these matter more than ever. We’re not waiting for permission — we’re building parallel systems, one block, one meetup, one conversation at a time.

Here’s to freedom, community, and unstoppable code.
⚡🧡 #Bitcoin #FreedomTech #ProofOfWork

2025-11-07T03:24:31Z https://njump.cloud.vinney.xyz/nevent1qqszz9h85wn8lxky5ufscf3v3jzsruz74sju4hnzk55kk3jc42ds3qqzyr0t0nw3gs7pfm5ejz2cwwxjd8xcduzemf3cz43tnx36fd7sryjzxlmau82 🎃 October 31st is an important day — but not for the reason most people think.

Seventeen years ago, after decades of work on digital privacy and cryptography, an anonymous message was sent to a small cryptography mailing list. That email marked the quiet beginning of a revolution — one that aimed to take power out of the hands of the elite and return it to the people. ⚡

This revolution is still unfolding. It’s not a trend or a passing fad — it’s the start of a new era. I urge you to take it seriously and spend time understanding why this matters. The alternative is dark: a world built on control, surveillance, and manipulation. 🕵️‍♂️

At the heart of freedom lies the freedom to transact. 💱
On October 31st, 2008, Satoshi Nakamoto gave us the blueprint for that freedom — the Bitcoin White Paper — and on January 3rd, 2009, Bitcoin was born: a peer-to-peer electronic cash system.

This is more than technology. It’s hope for the future in an increasingly oppressive world. 🟠

2025-10-31T20:07:38Z https://njump.cloud.vinney.xyz/nevent1qqsylsg6xnksyd85ffaghjh9k08hnsnnhay92ajckc6y0rl957fx63szyr0t0nw3gs7pfm5ejz2cwwxjd8xcduzemf3cz43tnx36fd7sryjzx0v26zq You've probably heard Jeff Booth talk about Bitcoin, but this short speech is a must-watch for anyone curious about it yet still on the fence. It’s like internet money.”

George’s eyes lit up. Internet money? That sounded like a mystery worth solving!

🐵💡

Later that day, the Man with the Yellow Hat had to run errands. “Stay out of trouble, George,” he said with a wink.

But George was already tip-toeing to the computer.

He typed “Bitcoin” into the search bar.

Words popped up: digital, decentralized, blockchain, private keys…

George scratched his head. He didn’t understand all those big words, but he saw a picture of a golden coin with a big orange B on it. That must be Bitcoin!

🐵💻🪙

Curious George decided to get some Bitcoin. He saw a button that said Buy Bitcoin Now.

But when he clicked it, it asked for a wallet.

George ran to the closet and grabbed his actual wallet.

It didn’t work.

He pouted. “Oooh oooh aah aah!”

Just then, he saw a video of a little monkey clicking on something called a Bitcoin Wallet App.

George downloaded it and saw a funny string of numbers and letters.

“This must be my wallet!” he grinned.

🐵📱🔐

George still didn’t have any Bitcoin. But he saw that you could earn some by doing chores—or by trading bananas!

He ran outside, set up a little booth, and put up a sign:

“Bananas for Bitcoin”

A neighbor laughed and said, “I’ll give you a few sats for three bananas!”

George smiled. “Sats?” he asked.

“Satoshis! Tiny bits of Bitcoin,” the neighbor explained. “Kind of like pennies.”

George handed over the bananas. His phone dinged.

He had Bitcoin! 🎉

🐵🍌➡️🟠💰

When the Man with the Yellow Hat came home, George showed him the wallet app.

“Well, would you look at that!” he laughed. “You’ve earned your first satoshis!”

George beamed.

“But remember,” the Man added, “Bitcoin is like your allowance. Don’t lose your keys, and always be careful online.”

George nodded proudly.

From that day on, George helped his friends learn how to save, share, and understand internet money.

Because even a little monkey can be smart with Bitcoin—when he’s curious enough to learn.

---

The End
🟠🐵💡

2025-07-11T00:05:57Z https://njump.cloud.vinney.xyz/nevent1qqs8kwelxdqhvggkkguvwl2np3wfzlj0xkkgp4mhyffnkulsgh9whzqzyr0t0nw3gs7pfm5ejz2cwwxjd8xcduzemf3cz43tnx36fd7sryjzxfslwuy Recently, I heard about The Bitcoin Lens on Youtube.

There is so much great material in the Bitcoin space, and after checking it out, this is a great video for you no-coiner friends and family.

https://youtu.be/gZ8fOUlwkAA?si=vR29RnlniQ_Ug4kH

2025-06-20T00:42:34Z https://njump.cloud.vinney.xyz/nevent1qqsya95fp5q2v7pth7qgq0j32ll5g7sntqxgf43sxlwjgf42dfucs6qzyr0t0nw3gs7pfm5ejz2cwwxjd8xcduzemf3cz43tnx36fd7sryjzx0uvj6x I recently had a conversation about AI with a middle-aged farmer from rural Alberta. He’s a smart guy who manages a large farm, and he mentioned that he expects AI to make his job about 20% more efficient over the next 5–10 years.

Personally, I’ve been using tools like GROK and ChatGPT regularly, and I listen to a few tech-focused podcasts. I’d say I’m ahead of the average person when it comes to adopting AI.

That’s why I think his 20% estimate is way off. In my view, we’re more likely to see that level of efficiency improvement per year, not spread over a decade.

Curious to hear others’ thoughts — is 20% over 10 years realistic, or are we underestimating the pace of AI's impact?
2025-06-19T02:53:58Z https://njump.cloud.vinney.xyz/nevent1qqsg48zcarjn0jmzcnxce4erc4tt6l2phufm3wx5ahnft3dkljqwqaqzyr0t0nw3gs7pfm5ejz2cwwxjd8xcduzemf3cz43tnx36fd7sryjzxzvhkd0 In reply to nevent1q…njq8
_________________________

Georges post is a must read imo.

My take aways from it were these:

1. Doing the right thing is rarely easy.

2. Spend as much time with your children as you can—you’ll never regret it.

3. Some people understand Bitcoin, and some don’t. In many cases, it’s not their fault.
I recently came across a chart showing Bitcoin adoption by personality type. Some types had over 30% adoption, while others had almost none. It really made me think—maybe, for some of us, this path is part of our destiny. And for others, it just isn’t meant to be. 2025-06-18T06:57:14Z https://njump.cloud.vinney.xyz/nevent1qqs0da5rv7mety4nkcpfvnjeeza2xcvyh35dzjzk4fptckq72u2ayyqzyr0t0nw3gs7pfm5ejz2cwwxjd8xcduzemf3cz43tnx36fd7sryjzxnyr3xj In reply to nevent1q…38nm
_________________________

Hours away?
Days away? <- my vote
Weeks away? <- my second choice
Months away?

Stay safe is right! Make Banff a hub for tourists and citizens alike - get government restrictions out of the way (development in the national parks is heavily regulated) let the free market drive the tourist industry in Banff.

This would:

- lower prices for Canadians and Foreigners alike
- allow adequate infrastructure to be built reducing the demand on existing over taxed services
- Jasper and Waterton which are similar to Banff can be left in more of a natural state for the more outdoor enthusiasts keeping development of these to a minimum.

Unfortunately because of the governments in Canada this is unlikely to happen leaving our children to spend more time and dollar(soon to be Sats) in foreign countries where its much more affordable and enjoyable.

2025-06-08T13:45:21Z https://njump.cloud.vinney.xyz/nevent1qqs2ud29xzxz9tukzmdvqhkzmgkrhcmey3rwsherqnr0kd0dgc64xuqzyr0t0nw3gs7pfm5ejz2cwwxjd8xcduzemf3cz43tnx36fd7sryjzxag5usg Ironically - moments before reading this I read Jeff Booth, and HODL's latest which were both great post and I thought -

"WOW Nostr is really got consistent great content now."

So while Nostr does have the highlights from whats going on in the world I find its the highlights not endless posts about the same things like X - maybe one day it'll be like that but for now I'm more impressed than ever.

quoting
nevent1q…wvmx
something happened to me today

i'm tired of looking at nostr feeds

nobody is giving me new information

too many people i otherwise consider to be good people are just parroting

this is it. i'm out.

i didn't come to nostr to get tl;dr of x feeds. that's all i see anymore.
2025-06-08T13:10:25Z https://njump.cloud.vinney.xyz/nevent1qqsdnj42n3ds84cammqqfldnsuksk9apch7w5k4u22fj2z5z0s68nuqzyr0t0nw3gs7pfm5ejz2cwwxjd8xcduzemf3cz43tnx36fd7sryjzx0uh480 In reply to nevent1q…yms0
_________________________

Distraction is the name of the game in politics. 2025-06-06T13:58:33Z https://njump.cloud.vinney.xyz/nevent1qqswp0d8r6sk5kn958pld69qkgt98fm4fkzae6r086w2ewkt6ua8y0szyr0t0nw3gs7pfm5ejz2cwwxjd8xcduzemf3cz43tnx36fd7sryjzxrjcs6k In reply to nevent1q…6lks
_________________________

Least surprising information ever if true. 2025-06-06T13:55:59Z https://njump.cloud.vinney.xyz/nevent1qqs0a07pd0thutfc7wgnf9fygysju7n0uqh9hle2f3m4jv8d5u8m6xszyr0t0nw3gs7pfm5ejz2cwwxjd8xcduzemf3cz43tnx36fd7sryjzxmg6gv4 In reply to nevent1q…acvl
_________________________

I love it when people say something derogatory against another person without any context or example.

Makes said person look like the retard. 2025-06-04T04:16:10Z https://njump.cloud.vinney.xyz/nevent1qqstxtmmd383rd2e6ysuhelkhtnn6nx5hu9hckt8qtrmw6709l7zlrgzyr0t0nw3gs7pfm5ejz2cwwxjd8xcduzemf3cz43tnx36fd7sryjzx5tmuk5 In reply to nevent1q…5wzk
_________________________

Super easy with umbrel and start 9. 2025-06-02T19:16:56Z https://njump.cloud.vinney.xyz/nevent1qqs2jlfwm3z4dd2z0v08wj49gehjn73u8q79cedkqpwc3uajrh5x32szyr0t0nw3gs7pfm5ejz2cwwxjd8xcduzemf3cz43tnx36fd7sryjzxpkt0u9 Join The Bitcoin Warehouse for a fun-filled Summer BBQ at Sir Wilfrid Laurier Park, near the Valley Zoo, bringing together Bitcoin enthusiasts from the Capital Region! At the time, those Bitcoins were worth about $41. Today, with Bitcoin at $111,000 per coin, they’d be valued at over $1.11 billion! This transaction, known as Bitcoin Pizza Day, marks the first real-world purchase using Bitcoin, proving its potential as a currency.

Why it matters:
- Proof of Concept: It showed Bitcoin could be used for everyday transactions, not just theoretical value.
- Community Milestone: The event symbolizes Bitcoin’s early days, when enthusiasts believed in its future despite skepticism.
- Value Appreciation: It highlights Bitcoin’s incredible price growth, from pennies to $111,000 per coin.
- Cultural Legacy: Celebrated annually, it reminds us of crypto’s journey and the vision of decentralized finance.

So, next time you grab a slice, tip your hat to Laszlo—his pizzas paved the way for a financial revolution!
