But this racket can&#39;t be kept running indefinitely — it&#39;s unsustainable.<br/><br/>What they need is to reduce competition and secure clients willing to pay the real cost of the service. That&#39;s why their best interest is having the state regulate AI to the point of banning certain developments. The main goal is to nationalize AI, sell or lease it to the state, and ban open-weight models. In this way, these big companies would have a cash-rich client and eliminate competition from small developers and open-weight AI with one shot.<br/><br/>And to be able to pass that law, they need to create a state of panic in the population that allows the state, once again, to abolish freedoms and rights in the name of false security.<br/><br/>They&#39;ve already started attacking open-weight models. Nvidia just bought Hugging Face, the largest repository of free LLMs. Microsoft bought GitHub last year.<br/><br/>The strategy is exactly the same as with the fake COVID pandemic:<br/><br/>Big pharmaceutical companies historically had to invest enormous sums of money in development over more than a decade before bringing any product to market. And then they had to recoup it in just a few years before patents expired, with no guarantee of profitability.<br/><br/>Therefore, they wanted a scenario in which they didn&#39;t have to wait at least a decade to commercialize their products. Ideally, they needed to create massive demand to sell their products before they were even developed, so they could finance development with that revenue.
