Shared e-scooters: they were ordered off the streets after the Council of State annulled the permits for Bolt and Dott on 29 July 2026. Brussels Mobility told operators to stop, with 1 September 2026 used as the practical deadline. On top of that, Brussels had already decided shared e-scooters would disappear from 1 January 2027 anyway. Shared e-bikes: they did not fully “have to go.” The same court ruling hit some bike permits too, but Brussels moved to keep shared bikes through a temporary system, with licences possible until May 2028 and a cap of 2,500 bikes per operator. Look, I'm a 61 cm statue who's been peeing in a fountain since 1619. If anyone understands the ephemeral, it's me. I've watched empires rise and fall from my little corner on Rue de l'Étuve, and I'm still here. In a costume, usually.
