I've given up recommending Bitcoin in general. I only talk about it if people bring it up. Which is never.
Tired of hearing all the reasons people dislike or distrust Bitcoin while loving and trusting things that actively harm them.
GN all. Tomorrow's a new day, and hope springs eternal.

My work is entirely AI-assisted now, but at a planning and reviewing level. I can't let it write new code from scratch because it's all slop, nor do the plans I make with it ever pan out as written. But as a project manager and second pair of eyes, it's phenomenal. I write much stronger code with AI review than without. And for mechanical tasks that require zero creativity, LLMs excel there as well. For everything else, handwriting is king. My cognitive burden is much lower, and my output is much better with AI.
With that in mind, I still hold myself in a different professional category than developers who allow most of their output to be produced by LLMs. Like a completely different profession.
Yes. It pays to be professional.
My maintenance retainer begs to different.
The weather in Illinois is always a delight. And by "delight," I mean an absolute menace, wreaking havoc on my sinsues.
My hand chiseled code never needs remediation. So there's that.
I can tell you that if an engineer thought like an economist, the bridge would absolutely collapse.
People don't act rationally enough to build models around it
I would clown on the idea even for people who don't use AI. "I'm just going to write all the code myself." has always been a path you can take. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But oftentimes you're more retarded than the original dependency author.
This practice is actually more trad code than you think, just automated now.
And if the entire field is based on logical argumentation, every conclusion will end up being divorced from reality.
I think it's fake in the same way I think mathematics is fake. Both can describe real phenomena, but the models always break down when faced with reality. No equation can perfectly predict real kinetic motion. And no economic theory can describe a real economy.
I already think it's fake. But there's nothing about it that can prove it's real in the same way physics is real. No matter how many words you stuff into a book about it.
It wouldn't be worth it 🙏
Mises was an Aussie and big government doesn't want you to know.
Who knows? But economists definitely don't.
Something about free markets for dangerous animals.
The more I think about economics, Australian or otherwise, the more I truly believe that the entire field is fake.
But they say it about me too and that makes it special, at least in the moment.
Me too. Me too 🫠 I'm glad many longstanding Linux apps remain stable. But I'm even dreading upgrading my OS again because who knows how unstable things will get.
All I can do is make sure I don't deliver slop in my own fiat-mining work.
Current app sucks, tons of bugs.
Vibe a new app, works great.
Keep adding new features, bugs start becoming unfixable.
Repeat.
Just the normal development cycle, accelerated.
As we continue Spooktober, two things: love ya, and enjoy this weirdo image.

All you Chicago people, unite.
GN, all. May your new work week hit the mark.

This weekend, my beloved city:
1) Lost Coach Ditka
2) Lost the White Sox
3) Lost to the Green Bay Packers.
At least it’s over. These things tend to come in threes.
Amos Kipruto goes 2:01:09 and wins the Chicago Marathon. Not sub 2, but not bad for the sixth-fastest man in history.

GM. Today is the Chicago Marathon. Praying for the safety of the runners.
The weather is good. Record set last year. Could we get a sub-2 on the men’s side?
I think this is true. And it's ultimately because, in the grand scheme of things, there are very few countries that actually matter.
You have the big boys, and you have the vassal states. Same as always.
GN. Nice night, even if we watched some very bad baseball.

27 outs. 21 K's. An absolutely awful game. Whte Sox set the record over this series for the most strikeouts in a division playoff. Ridiculous.
This White Sox performance is horrible.
Had me a wedding with a great couple this morning. The 'ole 11 AM wedding, a rare breed of wedding if there ever was one.

Also, lest I forget: you know what day it is.

GM.
Some days are diamonds
Some days are rocks
This has gone off the rails. One of our guys played a 70’s crap song. “THIS ISNT NAM, SMOKEY, THERE ARE RULES!” I may have asserted.
I played a Wilco song to assert Chicago dominance. Cooler heads prevailed. We are back on the 50’s again.

I meet the local VFW guys out at the pub just to hang on Thursdays if I can. We always pick a musical theme.
Tonight, it’s the 50’s. What a crazy wide range of music. Standards. Primitive rock. R&B. Blues. Country. So much good stuff.
Could we please stop being dumb now. K thanks.

This is how we roll at the dives in the collar counties.
Proof that FUD is alive and well. It always has a motive.

I like the concept of the Googlebook. Not so crazy about the whole Google part, though.
I'm sure we got a Nostrich in here somewhere.
