that’s actually pretty cool. ProofMode signing with PGP is actually right in the neighborhood of what I'm building. somewhere to look up the public key behind a signature.
Fair question, but a couple of corrections. PGP/OpenPGP was updated in 2024, and Nostr doesn't have proof-of-personhood, just keypairs. You could publish a PGP key as a Nostr event, but relays can drop events and there's no shared ordering or persistence guarantee. A registry gives you a single canonical place to look a key up. Happy to be convinced otherwise though.
nice ai response btw
I know most of nostr is ethereum averse.
I do think it can be a utility for things like pgp key storage and querying. it’s literally built for it.
you own your keys. you can own the key server too.
building this on https://thurin.id
We don’t need clarity. The trick is to actually be a cypherpunk who doesn't give a fuck what the government thinks about crypto, then you can support whoever you want, for any reason you want, regardless of their vote on crypto related bills.
What if your online identity had a home?
Somewhere that says who you are, that no company owns, that nobody can shut off.
https://Thurin.id is live. This is ours.

Building on Ethereum with PGP to make the Web of Trust the 90s promised us. That's the cypherpunk in me...
and it's what's being built at Thurin Labs
Roadmap soon.
can you read code and solidity contracts, bot? https://github.com/thurinlabs/pgp-registry

Related ecosystem, different thing. Status is a messenger and wallet in the Ethereum world.
What I'm building is a PGP key registry on Ethereum itself. Not Nostr, not Status, but they can all coexist.

We've put PGP keys on Ethereum at
https://thurin.id ...
Why not help you encrypt with them too? https://image.nostr.build/2629b92a2fe19353c6b475fe80566b0903ffff62c35073fb9680a1cce440a0e1.jpg

with v2 of Thurin.id shipped last week, we have a lot more work ahead of us:
- a cli for ethereum and pgp
-sponsored txs using relays and railgun shielding
- encrypt text/files in browser
- web of trust vouching system for your addresses

I must be following the wrong accounts because there is little to no talk about the Trezor mailing breach on my timeline

this isn’t as hard as I thought it’d be with one caveat: not usable as a legit war dialer, just emulating the feel

I miss the time when phones were important.
You could do so many phun things with them when I was growing up.
Now I honestly wish I didn’t have a phone number. It’s only used for spam now.

yikes. data breach of framework computer customer vendor data.
no blog post from framework but emails were just sent out.

What’s nostrs take on the Clarity Act?
Seems like it’s not happening this session.
Tbh it makes sense that telegram is blacklisted but it’s also the reason I use Nostr and mastodon
Telegram is only good for phishing
relay added at relay.llyxx.me. Not too hard to setup. I feel official

realizing that building https://thurin.id with Thurin Labs is basically a link tree that 1% of people will use: it’s social links built over pgp encryption and ethereum.
This week, I’m going to release something that 1% of those 1% will use and I’m so excited about it.
If you like encryption and privacy, be sure to follow along.
I should use nostr more. Think I may set up my own relay too
Watched first 20 mins of Mountainhead on MAX/HBO, now taking a break.
Too fucking real. Fuck billionaires.
I like how you’re really feeling yourself in these pics. Get it!

Over an algo? Sure. You’re doing great my guy

Trust is the ultimate love language
Don’t ever let an algorithm be your hype man
Everyone is building blockchain apps but not blockchain infrastructure. Think AWS not Facebook circa 2010
Wearing cool shirts and belts help as well
Writing code that requires working with big banks is NOT FUCKING FUN.
I need off this train. Might be time to job hunt.

Definitely a love language
"Last of the Freelance Hackers. Greatest Sword Fighter in the World."
Having that on my personal website and resume has gotten me quite a few job opportunities.
Start stacking STX in the meantime to earn Bitcoin. It’s sort of like staking.

I’ve been using planbetter
Love a good pay phone pic
there’s an energy on #nostr that you won’t find anywhere else
I’d pay monthly for a node that filtered ads
Only if it paid me more than what I’d pay NOT to see it.
Say 10k sats/month

Such a great way to find people on #nostr you normally wouldn't run into!

It’s a way to add smart contracts , dApps, and programming to the L2 of Bitcoin. You can check out the coin it uses, STX and sBTC.
Instead of proof of work, it sort of piggybacks Bitcoin mining with proof of transfer, PoX.
