Well, Nostr, obviously. But looking at all the decompiling jailbreaking stuff going on with proprietary software getting undermined, i am wondering if these silos/platforms can even be maintained in the first place anymore.
If there is no form of exclusivity that acts as a unique selling point for a platform, the whole notion of creating a platform becomes pointless.
My prediction is that for a short while, people will just erect simply more adhoc platforms for the now, lets call it, ''liberated'' stuff; simply out of habbit. But it will get silly quickly that you'd think that at some point it will dawn on people they might as well use some sort of protocol instead.
Above all, Nostr needs broader awareness, the outside world is doing most of the work in terms of being relevant for us already.

They could use Amber or an iOS signer.
Probably offer them two tiers; first innitial flow being some client/app created specifically around this campaign (which aids in the keybackup, but also a default feed and default relay, default group etc.. And then from there ways that leads them to stuff like amber and 'regular' clients.
Or associate with whomever, use the relays of your choosing, ignore grifters etc etc.

Oh, no, the nfc card is just empty. The idea is that they use some Nost client and generate their own keys obvously, but have a way to back it up.
As for password bruteforcing...well, yeah...whatever. you can add some password best practices on the letter, but with these things i think you should not overthink it. Its just so that if someone grabs your card you are not instantly pwned as would be the case with a raw nsec
I have said this before, but an ncryptsec on a nfc card/tag is probably the best minimal viable nostr-key back-up solution i can think off.
To expand on that. If there is any bazillionaire willing to trow away money on something stupid: how about just sending a physical letter to a whole municipality or province or state or country or whatever that includes such a nfc card.
The letter simply explains to people that digital liberty finaly has arived, they don't have to sign any contract or pay anyone anything. A couple of onboarding steps and the remark that its not a service and there is no service desk so if they need help they should ask their neigbour or nephew or whatever.
Frankly, just as an object of study i would like to see something like that happening. So send money to my foundation and who knows, i might do it🤷♂️

i think both are correct at the same time. In terms of scale there are many order of magnitude differences between the number of people leveraging Nostr and many of the platforms out there. This difference in degree in itself constitutes a difference in kind.
As a result, atleast in this phase, the only option you have is to actively engage, in order to get some interaction, because neither happenstance nor algo will get you there.
I have started to include this heads up into my messaging, because some people might simply not be aware.

Because rain was expected today, I decided to have an earlier walk before the weather arrived. As a bonus, fewer people were out on the streets and in the parks, there were a few retired men with fishing rods (a fairly common pursuit here) and dog owners, though. I missed recording the train, but at least I did figure out its schedule for me to take a few shots of it next time.
