Build what matters.
The Bitfest Hackathon is open format: your project can take different forms, but it should meaningfully use Bitcoin and/or Nostr.
Bring the problem you actually want to solve.
20–21 Nov · Manchester

Bitcoin has a huge online network.
But sometimes you need a table, a pub, a café and a few actual humans.
Local communities are where people ask questions, find collaborators, demo things, learn and occasionally discover that the weird internet person they’ve been talking to for three years is actually quite normal.
Who’s doing Bitcoin IRL near you?
Tag your local meetup.

Bitfest shouldn’t just be a list of people with microphones.
What would you actually bring into the room?
A workshop. A demo. A problem worth discussing. A project people can try. Something you’ve learned the hard way.
If you’ve got something useful to contribute, tell us.

What if investing in a project didn’t mean handing over your Bitcoin and simply hoping for the best? 🍊
At Bitfest 2025, Dan Gershony introduced Angor, a decentralised crowdfunding protocol built around Bitcoin and Nostr.
Using staged timelocks, Angor is designed to keep investors in greater control of unspent funds while creating stronger accountability for founders.
Dan walks through the thinking behind the protocol, the problems it aims to solve and where Angor v2 is heading.

“Nobody’s using Bitcoin.”
“There’s no Bitcoin scene here.”
So we looked.
At least 84 active communities, projects, organisations, networks, events and proof-of-work initiatives across the UK & Ireland.
The scene is already here.
Orange October is about showing the people, places and proof of work behind it.
Who should we be pointing people towards?

🎤 Andy Princz live at Bitfest 2025.
As part of the New Music Economy Concert at Factory251, Andy brought together hip-hop, live instrumentation and independent artist energy in a performance that perfectly captured what this side of Bitfest is about.
The New Music Economy is about more than putting music on a Bitcoin event.
It’s about artists experimenting with new tools, new models and new ways to build direct relationships with their audience.

Who would you bring to Bitfest who isn’t a Bitcoiner yet?
A developer?
An artist?
A student?
A small-business owner?
A privacy nerd?
A sceptical friend?
And what would the event need to give them for the trip to be worthwhile?

What could you teach somebody in 30 minutes that would make them more capable afterwards?
Set up a tool?
Understand a protocol?
Improve their privacy?
Run something themselves?
Build a small project?
Bitfest needs practical contributors as much as speakers.
Bitfest shouldn’t just be people talking about Bitcoin.
What can people actually try?
What can they build with?
What can somebody teach in a room that leaves people more capable afterwards?
If you’re working on something practical and want to bring it to Manchester, reply or get in touch.
Will check it went through and will DM with confirmed proofs accepted.
