When the product is money, or really anything where network effects matter, I think you'll find that purity spiraling gets you nowhere.

And this is leaving out the matter of most of the perceived abuse being something I take as a misunderstanding about the reality of peer to peer networks and plain wishful thinking. I'd much rather junk in op_return than the UTXO set.
What we got wasn't a better business opening up down the street. It was the angry customers opening up a co-op only to find that overhead costs and logistical realities are a lot harder to address than they reckoned. Seems many haven't come to terms with that yet.
