Along with the chestnuts, today I gathered some mallow leaves and Luigia herb, which I’ll use to make some fragrant autumn herbal teas.
I don’t live in the countryside, so these little, rare harvests fill me with joy.

Your 50s are strange. And maybe that's exactly what makes them beautiful.
You reach this age thinking you've finally figured something out about life. Then you look around and realize that everyone is living a completely different story.
Some have built everything they once dreamed of. Others are still figuring out what they truly want. And some find themselves starting over just when they thought everything was finally settled.
Some look back with nostalgia, others look ahead with excitement, and some are simply trying to enjoy the present without making too many plans.
I find myself thinking more and more that there is no right path and no timeline we have to follow. Life doesn't move in a straight line, and it never asks permission before changing direction.
Sometimes it surprises you. Sometimes it tests you. And sometimes it makes you laugh precisely when you'd rather be angry at the whole world.
Then there are the little contradictions of this age: still feeling full of possibilities, but having much less patience for wasting time on things that don't really matter.
Maybe that's what changes. Not necessarily our desire to live, but the way we choose to live.
We become more aware of the value of time, genuine people, and the freedom to be ourselves, even when that means changing our minds, starting over, or taking a path others don't understand.
At 50, we're not all in the same place. And thankfully, we don't have to be.
We don't need to prove anything to anyone or rush to keep up with other people's lives.
We can still be surprised, make mistakes, learn, and change direction.
With a little more experience, a few more aches and pains, and hopefully our sense of humor still intact.
In the end, it's not about having everything under control.
It's about learning to live well even when we don't.

All these “self-custodial” services for getting a Lightning address, built on Spark and Ark, look great.
But at the end of the day, nothing works as smoothly as a custodial service like @nprofile…vulm
Starting today, I'll use it as my Lightning address on Nostr and rely on its OpenService via NWC to accept Lightning payments on my website. So far, it's the only solution that works flawlessly.
I know it's a huge compromise when it comes to self-custody. But my priority is also to give people buying my paintings a smooth, reliable, and secure checkout experience.
Sometimes, the best solution isn't the most ideologically pure one. It's the one that actually works.

Contemporary loneliness is not about being alone.
It is about being surrounded by people without being seen.
It happens in real life just as it does in the virtual world.
And yet, sometimes all it takes is a sincere glance, an unexpected word, or someone who truly stops to listen to us, to remind us that we are not invisible.
Perhaps that is precisely where we start again: with a genuine encounter, capable of making us feel, once more, part of the world.
Perhaps #Nostr will serve this purpose too.

2026-10-09 10:14:53 UTC

It always feels a little special to think that someone, on the other side of a screen, might stop in front of one of my paintings, wish they could admire it every day, and want to make it their own.
Among so many images that pass by in a matter of seconds, something I created has managed to spark an emotion.
And to me, that’s one of the most beautiful things about painting.

That’s a really interesting perspective. I especially like the distinction between creating something to endure and creating something to appreciate in monetary value. When art becomes primarily a vehicle for storing wealth, it can definitely change the way people perceive and value the work itself.
I’d be very interested to read your three-part article when it’s finished. The connection between art, wealth preservation, and organizations like Bitcoin For The Arts sounds particularly fascinating.

A question for all Nostr artists:
Would you rather be successful without deserving it, or deserve success without ever achieving it?
In other words:
Would you rather make a fortune, knowing your art is empty and sells only because it’s been hyped up?
Or:
Would you rather be appreciated wherever you go, but have no one buy your work—even though your art has real value?
But then I started wondering:
Who gets to decide that an artwork is “empty”?
The artist? The audience? The market? Critics?
And if a seemingly mediocre work manages to move millions of people and generate real economic value, is it really “empty” after all?

I wanted to try a small experiment on XMRBazaar by putting two of my paintings up for sale.
After almost a month, the results are quite modest: one painting received 14 views, the other 21, and there was only one comment — from someone who already knew me through Nostr.
Those numbers are significantly lower than what I normally see when I share my paintings on barattolo.store. Even the posts linking to paintings on my own website tend to get more views when I share them on Nostr.
I don't necessarily take this as a judgment on the paintings themselves. Rather, it seems like an interesting indication of how different platforms can have very different abilities to put your work in front of people who are actually interested in it.
In the end, that's what experiments are for: you try something, see what happens, and then decide where it's worth investing your time and energy.
For now, I'd say XMRBazaar didn't work as I had hoped.
But at least now I know. 🙂

Direi quasi sempre.
Però con questo nuovo client Nostr che utilizza l'AI per la traduzione, un po' come Grok su Twitter, potrei tornare a scrivere principalmente in italiano.

Great! The new Italian marketplace barattolo.store is also based on nip-99, it will be interesting to see the same ads on both.

Will the marketplace be based on nip-99?

MAREA AL TRAMONTO (TIDE AT SUNSET)
25x30cm, oil on board
The painting is nearing its final brushstrokes. All that's missing is the spark of life.
Thanks to @nprofile…qk0u for kindly giving me permission to use one of her photos below. 🙏🫂🎨

I’ll admit it: it’s unnerving.
All day long, there’s news about Nostr, AI, Bitcoin, Monero, new apps, new services, leaks and all sorts of doomsday scenarios.
Then I put my phone down and realise that nobody around me has the faintest idea what’s going on right now.
Nobody.

I don’t know about you, but every time I receive a ZAP or an XAP, it feels as though I’ve received a small bank transfer.
It’s a little joy every time.

@nprofile…huys's beautiful photos inspired me to create this new painting.
It’s just a rough first draft. I haven’t come up with a title yet – if you’d like to suggest one, that would be great.
Proof-of-work in progress...

Layer 2 is dying. Any solutions?

I’m trying out Zapbook.
A social reading app built on Nostr, where you can read ePub books alongside other people in groups of 1 to 100, share your progress and reach milestones that can be rewarded with sats as encouragement.
Curious to see how it works. ⚡📚

I've never thought of yoga as a performance, but more as a form of meditation, alone or in a group. You're very good, though.

Imagine being a Bitcoin influencer today who earns money through sponsorships, and the only thing you can promote is Bitcoin on-chain, because all the other ancillary services are failing and don’t pay you to be sponsored.
