Great track by Justin Lantrip at the end of the episode. He has a folk indie sound kinda like Joe Purdy vibes.

New episode of Rollz Radio
I speak with @nprofile…w5yz software engineer, Renaissance Fair performer, and what may be the first ocarina musician in the Value For Value music ecosystem.
We talked about how he discovered V4V, his journey into performing and recording ocarina music, the opportunities available to niche creators in Podcasting 2.0, and how AI is changing both music and software development.
The short clip here highlights one of my favorite moments from the conversation: a discussion on human creativity, AI-generated content, and why understanding still matters.

Decentralized music isn’t dead. It’s evolving.
In my convo with @nprofile…zeec he shares a perspective I think a lot of creators need to hear:
“It’s stagnated, but there are great people working in the background to lower the hurdles so more artists can jump in.”
We talk about the future of V4V, the challenges new artists face, and tools that aim to make decentralized publishing easier. We also listen to Matt’s track Daddy Government ft. Courage is the Cure.
Here’s a 30‑second clip from the episode. The full conversation and V4V music is linked as well.

Yeah, Christian put it nicely in the episode, talking about how eventually you gotta go digital. Ultimately, this is the essence of the Mastering philosophy - keep the music as high quality as possible until the absolute last bounce for whatever medium it will be delivered on. With RSS Music primarily being MP3s, you have to deal with the lossy file. But tracking to tape just has a special sound/vibe and in my opinion can contribute to a really good sounding end result, even as an MP3.

Sorry I should have been more specific. Not “better”. That was an over-generalization. It has promising cardiovascular and blood sugar benefits. Not as a replacement to steps. I believe this is one of the studies. https://jyx.jyu.fi/jyx/Record/jyx_123456789_100173

Creativity thrives in constraint! It’s cool to hear how Christian wrote the songs specifically for the 1 minute video restrictions. Tracking to tape seems to have that same effect as you guys discuss.

Musicians shouldn’t have to give up control to publish their work.
@npub177f…aaq7 shows how Music Side Project 2.0 lets artists self‑host, own their data, and plug into value‑for‑value with RSS + Lightning + Nostr.

Hip hop used to be a whole spectrum: EPMD, Rakim, KRS‑One, Run‑DMC, LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Stetsasonic. Nobody sounded the same. (Not unlike many independent artists producing decentralized music in the V4V movement today).
Jak Da Mak breaks down that shift in this clip and we go deeper in the full episode. The moment the culture disconnected, and why the roots still matter.

New Rollz Radio episode — this one with @nprofile…up7r from @nprofile…xjk9
Sharing a quick clip where Alex breaks down the simplest onramp for musicians stepping into RSS + V4V. Platforms like Wavlake and Fountain make it easy: Upload. Publish. Earn. In the full episode, he also breaks down the path for the fully self-hosted approach with XML generation platforms like @Music Side Project and Indiesats.
No friction, no gatekeepers. Just music moving over open protocols.

@nprofile…5mlx your creativity is invaluable. I know you will land this plane.

@nprofile…jsav So I recorded the next episode of my podcast Rollz Radio (I talk to musicians about their music and life while discussing V4V). This guest is an entrepreneur and has a basic understanding of Bitcoin, but he’s not familiar with Nostr. He wants to put his music on Spotify and all the other platforms for maximum distribution. I meant to tell him about #HomegrownHits.
What else can I tell independent artists like him about decentralized music distribution?
