@npub1235…0ht5 paste protection is not working for some apps after setting "paste only", e.g. forkgram, yakihonne, some others i forgot. Is it because some apps have custom input widget and paste is not "native"?

I see. I wonder if it the nature of android networking overall when connections can die silently and not much the app can do, will the signer on the laptop work better?

btw i remember the doc i read explicitly said "do not relogin, just restart your bunker/signer". Here https://opensats.org/blog/developer-spotlight-dan-conway-ngit
> If ngit init or a git push ever hangs, Ctrl+C it, restart the bunker and run it again, no new login needed.
so maybe need to update the guides.. Because this is really frustrating

after this `ngit init` worked, so indeed it was the issue with relays? Is it Amber bug? It should have been reading events from the relays in the previous login right?

so it asked me to logout which i confirmed, and then at the end failed with
```
Error: a different signer credential is already stored for @npub1lcz…wxyr; refusing to replace it. Re-run with `--alias <name>` to store this remote signer connection separately
```
without telling how to clean this up. I figured to delete ~/.local/share/ngit but error message could be better (or better yet it should clean up on logout i understand)

i understand i login once per machine, not once per repository right? I logged in before and published a repo two days ago - everything was smooth. Ok, trying to relogin

2026-10-03 16:08:43 UTC

and today publishing to ngit doesnt work, @npub1am3…xrv7 event never arrives so `ngit init` sits at the repo announcement signing until timeout. Tried multiple times, tried adding --additional-relay with relays that amber is connected to (i understand it shouldnt be needed but idk how to properly debug this). cc @npub15qy…yejr #asknostr

#nostr native android clients :
- nostrmo doesnt look too bad, didnt see it mentioned often PS huh, sending didnt work, amber prompt didnt come up, taking one star off %)
- ditto is smooth but a little too busy with stuff i dont need (badges, blobbis, etc)
- voyager was nice minimalist one but sadly is crashing now on start
- dark wisp promised super fast relay operations but experience was inconsistent, feed showed up or disappeared randomly
- the big ones (amethyst and primal) tried before - too mainstream 😅
i wish more clients implemented fevela per-contact feed grouping

oh, and following also doesnt work, thats how i discovered this, thought it is relays problems, tried updating, then checked other apps, etc

@npub1000…vwqk sorry to bother, but fevela stopped updating relay lists (updating relay list just hangs with infinite spinner after approving amber request, updates from other clients are not reflected), but receiving/sending messages still works. Logged out and back in several times, reinstalled the fevela.me web app, idu

Because i don't even know myself how to deal with spam. Case in point - just got spam reply on my post, added to mute list - the post still visible, clicked "bury user" - still visible, clicked report -> spam - never-ending spinner (this is on fevela fwiw).

So apparently this is school #math for some kids but there is a thing called subfactorial - how many permutations exist for N elements where none of the elements stay in the same position. There are several formulas how to compute it, i came up with quite an ugly one, but there is a very cute derivation for a simple formula `D(n)=(n-1)(D(n-1)+D(n-2))`, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derangement . The thing that blew my mind is that it is precisely approximated by rounding `n! / e` - this is just insane.

ngn/#k tip of the day - building dict of two lists is straightforward ` !/(`a`b`c;1 2 3)`, how to do the reverse? growler/k supports pattern matching / destructuring on the dict as so:
```
(k;v):!/(`a`b`c;1 2 3); (k;v)
(`a`b`c
1 2 3)
```
Also anonymous matching works :
```
:(;):`a`b`c!1 2 3
(`a`b`c
1 2 3)
```

also when logging out and logging back in (with the same nsec) group membership is lost?? i don't even see the group in the list of contacts (i can see other people i added as contacts). Given I am(was) an admin of the group ... lol

2026-03-06 22:24:15 UTC

tried to use @npub1wht…r3ec with a group of friends, very disappointing experience. Apart from all the UX troubles (no way to share contact as a link, no way to create group without inviting somebody there, releases not in mainstream stores, etc) - the basic functionality just doesn't work: some direct messages don't get delivered, some messages get delivered but replies don't get delivered to me, some get delivered with big delay, out of 6 people i was able to establish two way communication with only one (direct and group), but later it broke and they stopped receiving from me. At first i thought it is because of my [login with amber](https://github.com/marmot-protocol/whitenoise/issues/196) but same happened with fresh npub in app as well. Reported [one issue](https://github.com/marmot-protocol/whitenoise/issues/463) but we are on whatsapp now :]

> The best artists are those who are willing to spend significant time and effort to improve their work in ways that most people will never even notice. This is true even of those whose work is widely popular; it is always better than it needs to be to make the money that it does. All good art comes into being on the far side of a diminishing return.

we are talking about different signatures. The way that prevents installing app with different key over play store version is android app signing that is checked by the OS itself (trust on first use, then making sure developer key doesnt change)

makes sense

2025-11-06 03:10:00 UTC

Separate question - but then I notice most of zapstore apps that I already have from f-droid are signed by Zapstore itself, not by the app developer, which means zapstore copied the app binary from f-droid without modifications, and so I need to trust zapstore on that, which is meh?

2025-11-06 03:08:25 UTC

- reply

idk how zapstore works but i am pretty sure nostr keys cannot be used as android signing key. i assume nostr keys are used to sign the message which contains app hash and/or android signing key (ie tie the app and/or app signing key with nostr identity), then it is possible to keep the same signing key for the app regardless of the store.

2025-11-06 03:06:59 UTC

- reply

"of course" part is not convincing, i see apps that are signed with the same keys as play store or f-droid versions, e.g. Primal

2025-11-05 21:18:29 UTC

so @npub142g…xrj0 signature in @npub10r8…t2p8 is different from play store, how come and what to do.. 😢

2025-10-10 20:53:23 UTC

PSA guix recommended install.sh sets up default channel pointing at savannah git which is hammered by "ai" crawlers into non-working state, end result is every new user has guix pull failing. Solution is to do `guix pull --url=https://codeberg.org/guix/guix.git` (which is the current main repo)

looks like my previous reply disappeared (i guess i messed up relays setup). Since then
i figured amber has two modes - local and remote signing, i only use it for local but there is no way to turn off remote signing? As it is now it is a noticeable battery drain for no bemefit in my case :(

2025-09-21 12:49:43 UTC

i only use it locally on the same device as a client, so assumed it signs locally, but makes sense for general case..
